Feeding Ferrets

Hi, i've heard a few people say that they don't feed egg whites to the ferrets?? Is there any reason to this, or are they the same fannies that think egg yolks are bad for humans??

Eggs are bad if fed too much not just the white or the yolk, one a week probably isn't too bad though. A bloke I knew had loads of chickens and his ferrets got loads of eggs and looked ropey for it.

Was told too much egg can make them lose fur but mine get one or 2 a week never chased them problems same as the dogs. Atb

my ferrets eat eggs, raw, scrambled an boiled, never heard them complain about the whites, a couple of eggs a week wont harm them

Why feed something that may be suspect? You wouldn't give your kids or dogs something that my be bad for them or something that could make them bald. Why not just feed the feckers what's best for them or what they should be fed ffs. These threads come up constantly and the advice is always the same...feed them raw meat and/or ferret complete...it ain't rocket science!!!

Mine get 2 a week mixed into there mince, that's between 5 ferrets so not a lot really. Everything in moderation and I've had no problems, dogs got one each as well on their food.

Mine get eggs one or twice a week and it holds a good protein value for them ... In the wild come the spring and summer wild mustelids will be raiding nests and eating eggs so its no different than us doing it ... As has been said everything in moderation though ..........

Lot of potassium in egg that's why I always gut the chicks given to my hawk - whether this has adverse affects on the ferts I don't know 1 or 2 a week should be ok?

same as everyone else, couple a week but I wouldn't give any more than that.

 

Like Socks says, it's a natural addition to their diet....but in moderation.

 

Never heard anyone saying the whites are bad though.
