Mr Goodcat 69
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone bought ferrets from around the Exmoor area (near Bampton) in the time period between two and five ish years ago and if they use this forum? The reason I ask is around the time of me thinning down my number of ferrets which was brought on by an extreme lack of time due to various reasons also my family and I had a move planned and unfortunately the out side space was going to be a lot smaller so the aviary/court couldn't be used so a hutch as large as I could fit in was needed which meant a reduction. A long time after the move life was good in the hutch until one day one of the five ferrets looked a little quite but nothing major or drastic just not her nutty normal self, she was still playing, climbing and having fun. The next morning I was meet with a shocking phone call from the wife saying three of them are stone dead, the whole situation was absolutely gutting and bizarre but what was an extra kick in the testicles one of them was an old girl who only came out if there was a five to ten hole bury to be dealt with due to the fact she spent nearly as much time sleeping underground as she did in the hutch . But I didn't mind digging her out at all due to the fact that in the past she worked her bits of for me and gave so much enjoyment for us. When she died she was in the middle of eating some food with her two front paws were on the rim of the bowl almost as if she was frozen on the spot, so as you can imagine her going like that was the last thing in the whole world I wanted for her. My wife said on the phone the other two were totally fine, normal and seemed in a perfect state of health and after check up nothing was found to be at all wrong with them, the same day they were homed in a friends disused rabbit hutch until I could return home to have a gander at what the feck was going on? The dead ferrets didn't have a mark on them nor did any of them show any physical sign of any illness and like I said earlier her symptom's (if that's what they were) were so trivial, if I wasn't mucking about with them the night before I had to leave I wouldn't of noticed anything at all. The hutch was dealt with accordingly as a precaution and the two ferrets were and are in very good health. I know I might and probably will be pissing in the wind with this but I'm looking at adding another recruit to the ranks and as you can assume in an ideal world, I would like one from the same strain I have been using for many years, I have been in contact with another person who use's the same strain (or near as damn it) but it's a not going to happen this year with that chap. So if anyone think's they may have had some ferrets or a kit/kits from me if you could let me know I would be most grateful and even if you do not have any you would like to sell it would be nice to hear which one or two you had and if they are getting on alright. Best regards, Mr Goodcat. 1 Quote Link to post
