There was a topic a while back about bumble bee numbers. Since then I have had more calls for bees than ever before, at one point I was getting 6 calls a day just for bees. I managed to transplant quite a few nests and convince many more that that they are very privileged to have them. Still never seen as many, whats other peoples experience of bee numbers this year?

Im of the idea that the French tree bumble bee is everywhere at the moment.

They are copper coloured on there backs and seem to have a swarming habit outside the nest entrance.

They give the impression that they are aggressive hence all the phone calls

Bumbles have been quite busy no honey bees it a single swarm. Starting to get a few wasp nests in.

I Never treat bumbles if I can't remove them or educate the customer I walk away, I'm not that desperate for money

Iv had bumble bees in nursery schools, in front door ways, roofing companies taking a roof off, boarding kennels. If they are a problem and cant be relocated then I'll treat em. Prob save over 50% of the calls I get. 1 honey bee nest in an air vent I had to treat as they were getting into the house but other than that a worrying lack of calls about honey bees.

fair enough, but it did say only month back on the telly, that they were at very low numbers, and need to increase there numbers, not killed off. ? can understand wasps etc... but with honey bees it said it would major effects in our food chain. if they werent there :yes: .if there a prob yeh move them, even if its really hard to find new home, but never kill them, anything else yeh but not the H/B .!!
