Hi All Newbie To Site And Air Rifles

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Thought I would say hello and introduce myself.

Names Neil (49 so still young :icon_eek: ) and I live in Shepton Mallet Somerset. Been here for 2 years now. Recently purchased a house in Bulgaria with lots of land and surounded by forest so this mixed with my mid life crisis which I think I was born with and has never faded decided it would be good to get into air rifles.. more for Bulgaria than here. Place in Bulgaria is a vilage called Dolni Boshnyak if anyone is interested. Plenty of Rabits at least so shooting for the pot is my main interest.

Have not yet purchased a rifle but where better to get help than here. Thinking a springer to start as it may be complicated to get air fills there so will be keeping my in the classifieds. So far from research Air Arms and Weihrauch appear to be the way to go.

My other half makes leather archery equipment, carving sewing etc so will be adding a new bow to her string if I get her making Shooting leather stuff. Do a search for artemisleathercraft to see some of her work. This should make the spend easier to explain.

Anyway enough about me, look forward to being a member here.

Oh, appears I sent this to the wrong area, should have been the other general for introductions I guess.

Thanks for the welcomes. Have been hunting through google for as much info about the gun to start with. Have used bows but only target as hunting with bows is not legal here, although I believe it is in Bulgaria but I am not good enough to even try that.

Most posts I have read seam to recommend the TX200 or HW97K but knowing me I will end up with something else that hits the classifieds. Seen a HW80K there but don't want to offer on it while still a newbee here.

Maybe a trip out at the weekend to find a store so I can see what they feel like.... patience has never been my thang.

Hi mate , and welcome :bye:

I have just been out with my HW97KT and its actually mind blowing how accurate this rifle is!

my advice is one , buy cheap buy twice- get a good rifle to start with

and two, try the guns before you buy, if possible.. the more comfortable you are with a gun the better you will shoot it.

the HW80 is a legend amongst air rifles, and rightly so! a tx200 or hw 80 , 97, 77, 98 , 95 would be your best bet, there all quite heavy tho, apart from the 95, that's a lightweight 80. all as accurate as eachother so no need to worry about that. and its not true that a break barrel is not as accurate as an underlever !!

but now I have probably confused you :thumbs:

hope you enjoy your stay on THL :victory:
