Biting Kits

Recommended Posts

Kits will bite a lot mate, its normal  but the biting ceases around 4 months or less with everyday handling. I suggest personally that you handle them for a couple of hours everyday playing with them and holding them is very important so they get used to human hands. when they want to bite your hands, let them bite!! I give my kits my fingers deliberately and I agree with the above of putting your fingers down their throats-they hate it and will learn that painful play bites are wrong  If the bites are particularly hard, then I suggest you use a pair of gloves cos sometimes they will draw blood. good luck lol ;)

Plenty of handling, I hold them with one hand and let them sniff the back of your other hand at first, that way if they want to bite they cant get hold although they don't have a lot of power in their jaws at that age so would not do much damage. My ferrets like their chests scratched. Just put time in with them and they will soon quieten down. At that age I also like to introduce them to my dogs as they need to be comfortable around dogs when they are working.
