As much as I agree I have to disagree. The Germans would be better reinvesting some serious cash and sorting out their QC. The finnish on some of the stuff they are turning out now is shocking.

I second what Moxy wrote, my brand spanker was as stiff as a board to cock and very rough due to the burrs everywhere and the cocking slot was left razor sharp.

Lukily i only half cocked it once and could hear and feel sharp metal digging in, sure enough i found scratches on the air cylinder made by the cocking slot which were duly polished out.

Surprisingly the spring had been flattened and ground on both ends, rather rough round the edges but at least it had been done.

Better than new now though after a fettle which lets face it we should not have to do.

You boys have all the new fangled shiney fancy looking new shite lol mine is one of the old 97 carbine, still does me well enough. But can I ask some advice.? I want to upgrade the spring to a new spring, or a gas ram, whats the best option for me, I just use it for pest control.

you could order a kit from sandwell field sports, personaly i do not like the gas rams.

i had a sporter years ago, then took a break from shooting..

got a bsa lightning xl and it wasn't the best quality and I knew I needed something better, had a look on line and in the mags and I seen the black 97kt and thought oooh had one before, but not a thumbhole. part exed the lightning and got one, cracking gun.. had a stage where I liked my black guns tactical look seemed cool, but then I wanted to have a nice piece of wood on it instead, so part exed the black one for a beech thumbhole and ohh my I love it, it feels better, and looks a lot better

Yes thair QC has definetly dipped.Not what you would expect from the Germans.Finishing springs of with grinders WTF!
