Coat Stripping Tools

I know this has been covered before (but i cant find the thread). Can anyone advise me on coat stripping tools as i need to get one for my beddy x grey. ive seen different types, some with saw type teeth and others with razor blades incorporated into them.

 

Ive been doing it by hand but half the time i feel as if im pulling too much and hes going to end up bald

 

any advice will be great

Hi Bob, Ive got an old, a very old stripping tool. It has marked on the blade, Magnet Trimmer, by Walshs of Blackburn

But, the usual thing I use is a piece of snapped hacksaw blade. Works a treat

yep Ive heard of the hacksaw blade thing as well. Another thing I often use for my dogs is a good pair of surgical gloves. just plent of stroking and hadfulls of excess hair is removed! I found the hacksaw blade started to make the dogs hair course - almost split endish.

Thanks for the replies, ive heard the hacksaw blade is good as well but just thought there would be a special type of tool for it someone could recommend.

pop along to your local horse suppliers and ask for a shedding blade or ebay

It was on the site before, I think Ditch shitter mentioned it, its called Coat King, made by Mars and you can get one from petcetera, its made up of a combination of tiny knife blades and pulls the hair out without cutting it,you use it like a rake. got one for my terrier and it works a lot quicker than a stripping knife but you have to get the hang of it like anything, good luck.
