skin condition

Recommended Posts

just noticed a bit of rough skin on the backs of my hob and jill , it looks a little orangey brown and dry flakes , does not look sore and they dont seem to be scratching.

any ideas what this could be , cant see any mites , though there ears look a bit grubby .

could it be diet they eat loads of meat , maybe too much .

or maybe hay related .

any ideas welcomed .

thanks

hi no its on the skin just between the shoulder blades .

at first i thought they had being playing a bit ruff , but now today i have noticed the mum / jill as got it

too .

the young hob has it the worst a bit scurfy and a few scabs slightly orangey /brown no blood .

they are all well and feeding / playing etc , the last thing i want to do is take all 3 to the vets for them to just say its mites etc ( hers some expensive shampoo ).

could this be mites , from hay or shavings etc , though i cant see any !!!!

could it be food related , though they all get fresh meat

should i get some spot on for them or maybe bathe them or both as first offensive .

any ideas please

my suggestion if it is mites or a skin condition is a bath... a mild baby soap .. and a lil baby moisturizer... see if you can clean up the area... and if it IS from hay or shavings ( they do harbor nasties pretty well ) you can try taking it out for a while ... just toss a couple fleecies or old t shirts in the bedding box for them instead. ( After a good clean that is...)

I agree about goin to the vet... lol if you can sort it at home.. you'll be saving lots of money
