We had a family of travlers live next door to me ,,,we lived on an end terrace 25 year ago,, and there was a half built house next door,,, the travlers bought it and finished building it then sold it on,,, they were there 2 or 3 years,,, they sold carpets ,, varny was there name,,, I never had a spot of bother with them,,, and they never stole a thing...

 

Good folk they were,, and there old man died wislt living there,, proper old charactor he was,,, proper bent old nose ,, from scrapping ,,,,

just an observation,but how many defending them would actually welcome them if they came walking up your drive. from what i gather after a visit from them,your f*****g locking your sheds and moving your dogs.lol no i dont trust them personally the bad rap they get is warranted imo

unanounced and not known to me in any way shape or form?, they'd get told to do one, and that applies to any other f****r, suit, uniform, non white, god botheres etc etc.

thats really my point in a nutshell Tomo, they aint all bad, some beyond a shadow of a doubt are fookers that i wouldn't want within 50 miles of me or mine. but some i'll gladly have round my gaff, go away with, drink and eat with, earn money with etc etc.... genuinely good down to earth people that i trust. not saying i know hundreds and hundreds like that, but i do know a few that i count as friends.

How many times do you ever hear of this type of hassle with Romany gypsy people?.......it's always the Irish

 

i couldn't tell the difference between the two, both inbred with a love of mullets and a fear or washing are they not?

 

 

Well, in truth you aint that far off with your inbred comment as they are marrying from within a fairly small pool of people to start with, but probably no more inbred than any remote rural village where the same old families have lived there for generations...........as for the mullet, well I agree that they do look a f***ing state cutting about with those silly haircuts but from what I have seen, again its mainly the Irish tinkers and yes some of those are dirty b*****ds.

 

But as a rule, I would say that you dont get hassle with Roma or Show people and there are a fair few good Irish lads that have strong Roma connections........its just most of the aggro is from these Irish tinkers who call themselves gypsys but they are not !

we have a few who pass by here every summer, the proper old type with wagons and horses, really nice people, there family who have vans and caravans often stop with them for a few days again people who i would trust 100%, years ago my eldest lad had been out all night and was walking home very early one morning, pushing his bike as it had a puncture, they called him over and fixed his puncture, they even gave him a bacon and egg sarnie and a mug of tea, carnt say many householders would have done the same.

With lurchers you tend to rub shoulders with them mate. To be honest, I like them. Not the extreme pish you hear about but the way they try make ends meet etc. been out with some right nutters and they've been fine. Same with the young uns. One thing I don't like, they go through some amount of f***ing dogs where you get that dog, ohhh he's a cracker, got 7 hares on the lamp 3 nights ago and 4 in daylight yesterday, all groaners, he's the best dog I've ever seen...... Want to buy him?

After recieving PM`s I have decided to retract part of what I said earlier

 

It cannot be that every Gypsy is that bad, and in fact I`ve been chatting to someone who ,it would appear. is the exact opposite. It also appears that I have insulted a bloke who didn`t deserve it so I`ve said sorry for it.

 

It has to be murder for any travellers that genuinly try and get on with their life, when ther reputation is constantly blighted by the majority who seem to be constantly on the rob.

 

If you are a Gypsy , on here, the ffs post, let us know just how many are decent grafters that don`t rob the rest of us.

 

As I have said, I have only seen the bad side of the community, having been followed about the place to have my dogs nicked and even having to track stolen dogs to go and take them back.

 

So how many are decent workers, and honest sportsmen that you would happy to have a run with.

There are good ones among them,but in this country these days minorities get away with murder when they're settled,travelling they'll get away with 10 times more.

I must agree on the comment above.... some country folk, country men, horse men etc call themselves gypsys when they are not. I no off a few fellas round this way who live in a house pay tax has a proper job etc etc, but when it comes to Appleby time off year, they get there wagons out and join the proper travellers and calm to be travellers themselves.
