Corinium Stew 6
I was granted my first permission last week and the guy seems nice, showed me round his property on his quad bike, signed the permission paper etc. However as the local postman, and having spoken to a few of his neighbours, I'm now not sure whether I can trust him. One of the people I spoke to was a game keeper for a local farm and he was surprised that I had been given permission to shoot on this guys land as apparently he and his family are anti shooting. My permission holder does however run stables and the person I spoke to would basically have been shot gunning pheasants adjacent to my permission holders land. So perhaps my permission holder was just pissed at the noise and concerned about his property and horses, I don't know. This game keepers consensus was watch yourself his wife was a 2 faced b&*^ch and will stab you in the back at the first opportunity. So what do I do, stay and shoot and hope it was just a run in with some unreasonable neighbours or walk and save my self the hassle of a possibly unpredictable land owner that may or may not stitch me up. All opinions welcome P.S. sorry for the long winded post. Stew Quote Link to post
moxy 617
You have got the permission. Be happy. Balls to what other folk say. Make your own mind up. Quote Link to post
AR177 588
you have the slip of paper that says you can shoot, signed by the owner ... and they dont! so what do they know?? shoot till you cant shoot anymore! Quote Link to post
kanny 20,425
could be a case of sour grapes from the game keeper fellah maybe he wants your permission?... if the owners are happy for you to be there and you have the papers to prove it and your not breaking any laws then I don't see a problem ... you can kind of understand them not being happy about shottys being fired around there horses maybe that's gone in your favour being a air gunner they will still want the pests sorting just in a more horse friendly way.... go and enjoy your shooting bud Quote Link to post

alex.mc 12
Just go and shoot I'd say. You can always keep in mind what you have been told, and see how it goes? If you do your stuff properly, and keep everything open and straight then there'll be nothing to use against you will there? After a couple of months I'm sure you find out who was telling porkies or not? If the landowner's straight about everything, I'd keep mum and be happy to have the shoot. If it looks like the other guy was right, then you can either just be very careful, or carefully retreat and stop shooting there? Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,935
Worst person to ask for an opinion is a neighbouring keepr ! hahahahahahahaha Judge him as you go on mate. Not by others opinions. I have had issues before though, and have always walked away from the permission Quote Link to post

The one 8,463
Why worry as long as you have got the permission mate . On one of mine the farmer drove me round saying i dont get on with this c*nt , this ones a ar*e hole but i got on great with them the problem was the farmer but as long as your killing rabbits hes fine . Another place i went to ask two adjoining landowners about ferreting the boundary's and they said shes letting you ferret ?. but the womans always been as good as gold with me . A few folk come over and try and find things out etc but i just say im only here to kill the rabbits i dont know the family or socialize with them and its a working relationship Quote Link to post

valboskie 39
i got my first permission in March i was driving buy the farm and seen the farmer hanging out his window talking to someone a road runs through his farm, i asked could i please shoot on his land he said yes , i asked could i come back up with a permission slip and a map he said i could he signed it and marked the boundry on the map, as i was leaving a tractor came in it was one of the farm hands i introduced my self and told him i had permission to shoot as i walked away the farmers son came over he runs the farm , he said what are you doing i said i got permission to shoot he then told me if i was bloody here you would be no where near this place i have knocked back 7 of you b*****ds in the last 3 months who the hell keeps sending you lot to my door im bloody sick of it , the rant went on and on . i asked if i could still shoot he was not happy but it was his dads farm he just ran it, i have shot it once and never got anything i just feel uneasy shooting there. so i think you are lucky and never mind what others say Quote Link to post
Corinium Stew 6
Thanks for all the replies guys, think I'll go but just be extra careful and make sure they have nothing to complain about. I'm probably just over nervous about the whole thing being new to it and all. At least unlike Buster321c' mine isn't haunted Stew Quote Link to post
