Bootsha 1,306
i dont say its as effective as the contact, dilute to taste insecticides, but its 100% natural product and lies in wait 24/7 for any creepy crawly bug to crawl over it and slice its guts open lol, its a preventative and treatment all in one. bullx100% 681
yes bull x. i remove all the shavings from the poultry sheds, nest boxes the lot, brush it all out so there nothing left in there. you can apply an insecticide if you want to, if you do, let it dry thoroughly, then get a few handfulls of DE and scatter it everywhere, all nooks and crannies, nest boxes etc, make sure you put some on the length of you fowl perches, especially down the ends of the perches as thats where the little b*****ds love to hide during the day and then come to feed at night. I was once told Also to wrap double sided sticky tape (like the blue peter stuff lol) at either end of the perch, if you wanted to see if you had mechanical dandruff in the sheds, go back in the morning and see the little b*****ds stuck on the tape on their way for a feed. My large bucket cost about £30 i THINK, but it lasts ages, i even put it under the dogs on the benches, has the same effect on fleas etc. Google it mate, sounds like a gimmick....but it works for me..by means of proof. B cheers bootsha
blackdug 90
Check ebay for diamitus ...I got a huge bag of it on there for a fair price delivered to the door....you can also put it in the dogs and chickens feed for worms ....my birds wade through it in the summer as I use a pile of it in the coops.... bobcullen79 1,495
I was using DE as a preventative, cracks, nest boxes and birds. Seems it didn't help much, or the battles lice and mite powder. This infestation happened in little over a week, I know because I`d cleaned my shed spotless a week before I seen the first few mites, this was my shed, not a bird house. The ficam looks to have knocked them out in the runs and sheds, nothing moving and on the day of application, the flies were dropping dead after contact.., Still waiting for email confirmation from viovet for the eprinex pour on. I paid £25 quid for a kilo some name brand DE, but ebay is doing 10kg for less than a score. The ficam cost me £22 for 2 sachets posted, well worth it..
paulus 26
tried DE years ago didn't seem to do a thing to be honest, but as this thread shows other people have found the opposite, myself i prefer chemical warfare as its instantaneous where as DE isn't. coupe design has as much to do with keeping mite s at bay as anything else
torchey 1,301
Ficams residual so will carry on working for a while ,just make sure you read all the info on it ...
Paid 935
Steam cleaners work well too, alongside chemicals, I got a cheap steam cleaner from aldi, and it cooks the fuckers and destroys their eggs. Its good for getting right into the nooks and crannys that they hid in.

Tried the natural powder, didn't work. Its most effective straight away, once it gets damp, its shite.
bobcullen79 1,495
Finally got a confirmation email from viovet, my eprinex pour on is coming. Now the confussion.. On back yard chickens, all the americans are using it at 0.5 CC, per average hen, but the English are using at 0.5ML, is there not a big difference?
