I found a chap for his collection, about 8 years ago andy south of france for a eagle owl,, fack hit make going up the dales seem round the corner,,, the rare then are the common ones now,,, you try and find a tree sparrow..lol

Your spot on Jim..what was once rare are commoner nowadays but many of the once popular such as Blackcaps,Linnets,Redpolls,Reed Buntings Etc ain't nowhere near as abundant as they once were infact I can't even recall the last time I sen a Blackcap?..and a Tree Sparrow lol..we even have an Osprey up here but not a fecking chance you'd find a Tree Spuggy haha

 

i find reed buntings in abundance,plus 4 blackcaps nests last season and 3 linets nests only a seconds away from my house,the reed buntings arnt to far and me and a mate also found a few whitethroats which i could never find as a kid

never found one ever only collards,had a mate though who went out with a well known egg collector and they got nightjars now that some egg ill probably never see one again
