Lab 10,979
Keep the bubble on side mate, the worst of the work is normally over in a few weeks .The greeks I know are the best outdoor cooks in the world!!! you could be on to a serious winner in the end , play the long game if it turns out he's a s**t you can give him a dig then & nothing is lost .. Funny you say that. He's a chef and his specialty dish is rabbit. Lol Is he called nikos or summat and his missus a big blond woman? Sounds like a couple who had a pub near me for a bit. I was kinda hoping it was a big boy wi long hair called Samaras and he was f***ing off down south....:-)
Gaz_1989 9,539
I've renovated a couple of my own houses and i would say the best thing to do is talk to them. Doesn't really apply to the house i'm in at the moment as it's a bungalow but my last house was a semi so some of the noise could pass through the wall to the neighbour. I spoke to them about it and they were absolutely fine with it. I usually worked during normal working hours though quite often done some work in the evenings and weekends with no problems. Best thing to do is go in...introduce yourself...show an interest in what's going on and he will probably show you around. Once you've struck up some sort of friendship, kindly ask if he could delay work starting so early at the weekend as it's the only time you and your family can get a lie in. If he has any respect and wants to get off on the right foot with his new neighbours then he'll listen and respect your wishes. Did you read what you signed? I wouldn't have signed anything until i spoke to him about what his plans were. He's not been there once since work started mate. They've just got contractors in. That's why I was going to speak to the niece who lives nearby. I aren't unreasonable and wouldn't go in all guns blazing. I would be polite. But equally if he doesn't see my point of view and wants to be a c**t then I can be a bigger c**t. But it seems the general consensus is to say nothing and let them crack on. Earlier they start, sooner the job gets finished I guess

Yes it said... I live at nummer 54 and give my permission for the bilder at number 56 to put a saport in the party wall. That was it. With the spelling errors. Lol
AirgunGuy 362
I wouldn't bother with the niece mate as it has nothin to do with her. Speak to the organ grinder...not the monkey. He must be there at times to oversee what's happenin. He's already started takin the piss if he's sendin his niece to do his dirty work. He should be dealin with it directly. It's down to you mate how you play it. If you want to be on terms with him then speak to him and ask him nicely...if you don't give a fcuk then tell the sweaty cnut to cut it out or you're gonna rip his head off...either or...simples! Lol Still wouldn't have signed anythin until you spoke to him directly or got your own guy in to see whether the wall needs bracing or not! I'm in the building trade so it's easy for me to see if someone's bullshittin or not. Either way nothin should need to be signed...a verbal agreement should be enough! AirgunGuy 362
If it's not a legal document then I'm certain that the written agreement you signed isn't worth the paper it's written on! If the wall he wants to do work on has always been there and is supporting then he would need planning permission also! Edited June 30, 2013 by AirgunGuy

It's a party wall between you and your neighbour. You have equals rights over the wall. If it's a supporting wall in any way and he has been advised to brace it then I would get someone to look at it asap.
