the glorious 13th grouse season, walked up over pointers

Recommended Posts

I was out on a grouse moor on the 13th and have just got round to sorting some pictures out, always said everyyear i must take the camera and capture some of the action and this year i finally did.

It wasnt the best of years for grouse as we had a few very wet days at a crucial time of the hatching season in our area, although i have heard other areas have had a bumper season, any way there was just a party of five, two guns and the keeper the ghillie and myself, it was good weather in the morning but the afternoon was terrible with constant rain and wind, it was like the middle of january!

Once i got off the hill i ran a hot bath and lay in it for a good half hour every article of clothing was soaked through, but i still wouldnt miss the opening day of the season should i get an invite, thers somehting about being up in the hill which is hard to beat!!

Excellent Thurso, I used to beat at Lord savilles place, jesus that was hard going, and before the lads start i wasn't a fatty then either , nothing worse than the heather to walk in.

Quality pics there mate... what a great experience, love to do walked up grouse sometime. Looks like i'll have to get the fitness up mind... I've shot driven grouse at the Bowes Estate once before and i was knackered just getting to the butt. :icon_redface: ... and that was a soft walk as well :icon_redface:
