thurso jack 3
I was out on a grouse moor on the 13th and have just got round to sorting some pictures out, always said everyyear i must take the camera and capture some of the action and this year i finally did. It wasnt the best of years for grouse as we had a few very wet days at a crucial time of the hatching season in our area, although i have heard other areas have had a bumper season, any way there was just a party of five, two guns and the keeper the ghillie and myself, it was good weather in the morning but the afternoon was terrible with constant rain and wind, it was like the middle of january! Once i got off the hill i ran a hot bath and lay in it for a good half hour every article of clothing was soaked through, but i still wouldnt miss the opening day of the season should i get an invite, thers somehting about being up in the hill which is hard to beat!! Some hinds sheltering near a burn we didnt have to wait long for the first point of the day, 10 mins after we left the truck 2 birds flushed and two taken, a good start. springer bitch retreiving the game another half hour passed and we were on agian another brace fro this covey the ghilles lab bitch making a good long retreive the view from the mountain top on again this pointer was a tool and a half! some breaking wide dropped on point and waiting for the guns flushing and shooting the springer doing her bit again this was a left and a right another in the bag a few stags on the way home all in all a good day, 8 brace of grouse taken on the day, walked about 15 miles through knee deep heather, slept like a baby that night. hope you enjoyed the photos YIS TJ Edited August 18, 2007 by thurso jack

Looks like i'll have to get the fitness up mind... I've shot driven grouse at the Bowes Estate once before and i was knackered just getting to the butt. ... and that was a soft walk as well
