Leather Type Wellingtons And Gaiters.

Recommended Posts

Hi Peeps. Just a couple of questions, are those leather type wellingtons easy to keep as clean as Wellingtons, they look good in the shop, but are they easy to clean of mud, and are they as good as the normal rubber Wellys?

Having never worn Gaiters, with good waterproof boots what depth of water could you wade through, and still have dry feet can you go over the top of the boot, and still remain dry?

I had some leather boots for around four years, they were great tbf.

Gaiters will keep the trousers dry( through grass etc) but not increase the height of your boots ( in water/mud)

I have a pair of neoprene rubber boots again for this season again.

I hope this helps

I have used all sorts last year was neoprene wellies, which after a season on the grouse and then through rough forestry on the pheasant just about lasted. This year im going for meindl pro burmas and gaiters see how they go which had better be bloody good at £190 a pop.

The wellies were warm and comfortable and surprisingly stable as I have a bad knee

Stroller, if you ain't got 'em yet, could I recommend Meindl Borneo, rather than Burma's, much stronger and hardwearing sole IMO. Less flexible, as they are a slightly heavier boot but it's the same sole found on other more extreme Meindl's, like Glockner. I've had mates go through two pairs of Burma's to my one of Borneo and mine get much more stick!

I've had mine near 8 years and they are still going strong.
