Frann 882
Got this recipe from a Scottish friend on the Book of Face and it sounds like something im going to love. How to make stovies - fry some link sausages. Peel some potatoes and onions. In a deep pan place a layer of sliced potatoes, then a layer of sliced onions, then a layer of the cut up cooked sausage. Keep going till everything is used. Generously salt and pepper, then add enough water to cover the bottom of the pot. Bring to a simmer and cover. Cook for 20 minutes, or until the tatties are mush, then mash with a masher.....totally delicious, but do taste better with square/Lorne sausage. Add more pepper as you mash. Best eaten with French bread and butter.

Malt 379
The plank.Aye, my nan had one of these to go on the gas stove and all when I was a kid! plank.jpg That's the one mate its called a nan ... Or in welsh a maen ...hence the welsh for welshcake is Pice ar y Maen .......... Maen = stone. Those steel or iron things are also called baking stones in English, so I found out when I was looking for a picture earlier. Don't know where the nan bit comes from, probably a regional thing from your way the same way I'd call it a plank!
