There will be no mass civil unrest in this country.average white person does not case enough.as long as there are chicken nuggets in the freezer and x factor on telly they do not care...there was a white boy beaten to death in the midlands in 2003 for wandering into a muslim area on the way home from a night out.no one was ever charged with his murder,members of the crowd were sentenced to months (think 30 was longest,will link article when i get home) for public order offences. i really cant blame the english lads for not getting involved and retribution. most have famlies and mortgages jobs etc. they are beat before they start,cause the goverment and there police will come down hard on anyone who stands up to them.

Re: the Mark Duggan part of the post. He was a plastic gangster living in the real world and the real world shot him dead. The sense of community you refer to wasn't a demonstration to Downing Street or charity concerts, it was a free for all smashing in shop windows and looting. That doesn't show solidarity, it shows what sort of people looked up to scum like Duggan.

 

As for the average Joe not caring enough, I don't agree with that. I think most of us are worried about it, but the law seems set to pounce on anyone daring to mention it. I'm terrified of the prospect of being a second class citizen in my own country.

I think we share a lot of similar views.

 

Prior to the rioting in London there was a march by the friends and relatives of Mark Duggan. Let me make it clear that I am not in any way defending or seeking to explain the reaction to the death of Mark Duggan. As you rightly point out he was a convicted criminal, who at the time of his death, was in possession of an illegal firearm.

 

Maybe it was not a sense of community which inspired the rioting, but you mention that most of us are worried about it, but won't do anything as we are scared of the law.

 

Other sections of our society don't seem to be scared of the law. It does not seem to touch them.

There were no riots. There was no reaction. The individuals responsible for this racist murder were sentenced for a MAXIMUM of 21 months for theft and public order offences. There was one person charged with the murder, but he was acquitted. Where is the decades long national media campaign, changes in legislation and anniversary concerts for this victim of a racist murder?
