Dazzam 239
Looking forward to the Tour De France kicking of this weekend. Is there any other cycling fans on THL. Hopefully another British rider will win the yellow jersey this year with Chris Froome. Also hope Mark Cavendish wins the opening stage in a sprint finish and gets to put the yellow jersey on. It should make for interesting viewing. Darren

paulf 820
in a way im glad wiggins is not competing this year as it will give some of the other sky riders a chance to shine ,and as its a more mountainous tour this year I think wiggins would struggle .... baw 4,360
Do you think the steroid, drug abuse the sport has endured has tarnished it a bit. I don't really follow it but when I hear Tour de France, its the first thing I associate it with.

The sport has been rife with it for ever almost,,, I used to work with a few lads that were big in to it back in the ,s and even they used to tell me then it had been going on years,,I think back in 60s they used things like speed ect
Blackbriar 8,569
I've followed Le Tour since Greg Lemond's great rivalry with Lauren Fignon in late '80s. I love the sheer spectacle of it - the downhill camera shots as they go up Col d'Aspin and Col de Tourmalet are awe-inspiring. I think my car would struggle to get up there! I think the talk of Froome doing well on the mountainous course is right, and his chances are helped by Wiggins' absence. I predict Froome for yellow, Cavendish for green (just) and Contador for polka-dot KOTM.
Rake aboot 4,936
I love it The only major sporting event I watch asides from motogp Froome should do well, But there are some massive contenders to beat. Contador for one. Cavs the man though !!

Drug use is probably not as wide-spread as in, say, weightlifting or powerlifting, but where there is sport there will be cheats, I'm afraid !
