secretagentmole 1,701
In the July issue of Airgun World, someone wrote in the letters section that they did not know how to tell if the pellets in the JSB Exact Diablo tin they were buying was 4.5, 4.51 or 4.52. The editor gave a waffling reply which was basically see which one fits best then buy a load from that batch. At no point did he ever say "Turn over the tin and see what size is on the ruddy great orange label!" The man cannot find the size of the pellet head, let alone the production batch (in smaller numbers along the top over the pellet size)! Edited June 27, 2013 by secretagentmole 5 Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
I gave up buying the Mags centuries ago. Nothing but a repetition of the same old articles on how to bag bunnies at 20 feet and glowing reviews of shit crap gear to keep the makers of this tat advertising in the thing. There's more useful info on the back of a matchbox. 10 Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
Can't disagree there! I've banged on about the mags solely existing to sell the terminally unwary crap they don't need at prices they can't afford... I mean really, rabbit attracting sprays? glowing reviews of the mk1 r10? Real tree gear? (does anybody outside of hft really use it?) 2 Quote Link to post

AR177 588
Ive only ever bought one air rifle mag.. that was June's issue of airgun world because i saw the pic of Adi from A&m on the front.. I should have left it on the shelf... while my interest in what was said about adi was what made me buy it.. it amounted to nothing more than saying a whole load of waffle and finished with 'he does good custom work' (paraphrased) ... which obviously i know ive been and had work done by him!... the rest of the mag was nothing better than toilet reading material .. as you say with reviews of outdated, overpriced, unnecessary items 1 Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Your shooting is a personal affair. It's up to you how honest you are with yourself as to your ability to shoot accurately at whatever distance you can. But Rabbit attracting spray? Cheapo 50 quid springers and their shitty cheap tru-glo sights as good as Weihrauch, Air Arms and Diana? What a load of bullshit! More myths and legends are proffered as fact by these mags than anything. As Rabbits see in poor, fuzzy monochrome and then, only when things move (that's why they can sense and hear footfall and smell human scents at fantastic distances) , any green disruptive cammo pattern clothing against a hedgerow will work very well for helping to conceal you still and quiet. A good rifle and scope, the right pellet for it and a set of DPMs a cap and decent boots has always been all we ever need to go shooting. And all we ever will need. 6 Quote Link to post

I don't even wear the camo anymore mate, just a green shooting jacket and some dull trousers (sometimes even jeans!) and i get the same results, as long as i move slow, keep low & quiet and approach downwind Not to mention the 3 page write up on how a guy shot 1 pigeon.. and the article on piston bounce which, well im still not sure what the hell they are talking about! 3 Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Don't get me started about cammo and the branded shite these mags advertise. I will leave that for another day. And your right Adam dull tones are more than adequate. All these mags are just glorified catalogues and not just the airgun ones. I'm not going to go into the miss info that may come up now and again and I do find the three page stories crap and the reviews very bias. But at the end of the day they are bound to be. It's a paid advert. Which keeps the mags going. BUT. In the eyes of a 12 year old lad it's utter gun porn and stuff dreams are made of. Everyone has to start somewhere and not everybody is fortunate enough to belong to a forum where true information is shared by real folk in the real world and real reviews are aired. A lot of the write ups on here would be a credit to the mags. Having not read the write up in the mag regarding the pellet sizing I can't comment but it sounds like a big ass mistake.
