my old man is on the SACS stand all three days stop greeetin about price you could volunteer to help at the fair three hours work and you get free entry and parking they needed volunteers for the clays, bop, gundog scurry etc plenty of scope check out the website well in advance. REMEMBER this for NEXT YEAR.

Then after your three hours your still stuck looking at garden furniture which you could do at b+q be in and out in ten minutes

I rember the old days when there was ferreting stands etc and you could spend your cash no on a £4 burger we used to go for the whole day then come out and light the barby and watch all the silly buggers queuing to get out . Then why is it £2 to park on top of your ticket they dont do that at the midlands the yorkshire ?.

its a fair bit more expensive for your entrance ticket at the midland, fookers stick the extra on everyone's ticket

Stop Moaning!

I can't go this year cos' I'm away at work, can only make it every 2nd year, and got down there on Friday night last year to be awoken by a barrage of TEXT messages saying it had been cancelled. Spent the day wandering around Perth instead, and that cost a sh*t load more than the entry fee would have been!!

It's not cheap, but what is?

Have you taken x2kids to an Hr and a 1/2 in the cinema lately?

They are rippin off b***ards! Juice, sweeties, f**kin 3D Glasses etc.....and you're back in the car within 2 Hrs!! :icon_eek:

If you put yourself out, speak to people, listen to what they are saying, you get a fair bit for your entry ££ - in my opinion anyway.

If you are a member, you get a pass that gets your car closer to the gate, free scran, and something to wash it down with.

You can watch the butcher manny hacking up a deer for nothing. We have a local butcher doing a Demo in an evening, and I believe his Hour or so costs more than entry for 2 people to the Game Fair.

If folk stop going, do you think they'd take the price down??? I doubt it, More likely to move the venue.

There is a lot of work involved in the preparation.

You never have to hunt about to find a toilet or queue once you find one, pleanty of food choices (although, I must admit, they aren't shy to ask for your ££)

All in All, I think it is a good Day / Weekend out.

I would say each year I have been, I have managed to get a 'deal' from some of the stalls which more than made up for the entry fees.

Hope they get Good weather for whats left of their weekend anyway,

Roll on Next Year.

I was there yesterday, £38 entry and £2 parking.

Plenty of workers about cleaning up, emptying bins, cleaning bogs etc, I spoke to a guy and he said he'd been at the site nine weeks getting it organised and it would take two plus to dismantle. Add to that all the other organising that you don't see and it's not actually that expensive.

See how long forty quid keeps you in the pub.

They clearly state all their figures, Outgoings, Revenue, Profit and Losses in an annual publication. I don't think it gives figures per individual show, but all their figures are readily available to view.

They are a fair old Organisation, heavily involved in many different aspects which affect our sport.

Their are not out to skin 'Joe Public' at the gates,

Also, think about last year......All that work and effort by hundreds of people, companies etc, only to get washed out and cancelled after the 1st day!

Of course, if you can show me where / how I can enjoy my entry money better, I'll give it a go.

Say £20 / Head even

Really, what does that get you these days?

A steak if you're out for a meal, 2 fish suppers with a can of juice each, a round of beers, 1 carrier bag of shopping from Tesco....

I already said before it's not 'cheap'......but what is?

we were this events biggest fans for years we'd spend maybe £4 or 500 on the day allsorts of shooting hunting and fishing gear books clothing food for the year and imo as long as folks keep going its only going to get worse........warwickshire 22nd sept....£8 entry kids free......gundog and game fair 13th / 14th july £10 entry buy one get one free and kids free............frampton 8th sept £8 entry...........holkham 27 / 28th july £15 free parking and kids.....althorp country fair 5th / 6th may £13 under 5's free.....the east anglian £12 under 5's and parking free....the list is endless just about every event of this type all over the country every area and every region is cheaper, it doesn't seem to be aimed at real country folks anymore and it won't change if we just keep going along with it

Fair enough, How do these shows compare to Scone?

Are they as big / Bigger?

Are the facilities as adequate?

I have only ever been to Scone, and one other, (Game Fair-wise) on numerous occassions, and the other is cheaper, but only has a fraction of the profesionalism as Scone offers.

Our local 'sports' day is more than a fiver to get in, and there realy is f**k all there!

The point I was trying to make was that we don't get much of anything for our money these days, and although £20+/- is a bit of money, I really don't think it's any less value for money than a lot of other things.

Just my opinion

I'd rather spend it on a day at Scone than an Hr in a pub.
