Chesterfield Sofa

Just having an extension built and I'm looking for a chesterfield type sofa, seen a few on gum tree and eBay, is there anything I need to look out for, any advice welcome from some of you furniture gurus lol

Id look out for a Chesterfield type sofa mate...........

always look before you buy mate..........look for rips and any stiching going out as it will lead to trouble eventually...........but tbh i wouldnt have one if you paid me lol........ill always rememb

Lol Thanks for the input Lab, it's what I expected from you.......

 

I never buy off of eBay etc, but don't fancy the cost brand new.. Just checking if there are makes/ types to avoid or get..

 

Stig could be my man here I think

always look before you buy mate..........look for rips and any stiching going out as it will lead to trouble eventually...........but tbh i wouldnt have one if you paid me lol........ill always remember getting pissed round my mates dads house years ago in the summer and falling asleep on his dads chesterfield..........i had to literally rip myself off it as i had sweated buckets on it while in a coma and became attached to it............ :blink: f**k that with the comfy sofas about today............ :laugh: PS the main thing to look for is any change thats fell down the seats............ :D thats my advice anyway lol but now......................

Haha fair enough mate, it's not for the front room, I've knocked a could of walls through and added an extension to the kitchen so it's one big room, want it for our there..

Been on eBay and gum tree, but all different names pop up and I've no idea, they all look similar but ones 300 quid and the next is 7 grand, fck spending that lol

 

I'll PM the stig he knows his stuff,

Haha fair enough mate, it's not for the front room, I've knocked a could of walls through and added an extension to the kitchen so it's one big room, want it for our there..

Been on eBay and gum tree, but all different names pop up and I've no idea, they all look similar but ones 300 quid and the next is 7 grand, fck spending that lol

 

I'll PM the stig he knows his stuff,

lol yeah they fetch decent money mate.........but at the same time always hold it!!! remember people dont always know what there selling, so look in your local ad-mag and go and have a look at any leather sofas close by.........you never know what you might find............ ;)

Thanks mate, I like the idea of a traditional antique type, but know nothing lol... I don't want to rush in and buy something that's supposed to be 100 years old only to find its a DFS special lol...

Make sure its got the relevant label regarding smoke/fire etc ......long day, cant remember the correct kite mark? sure Stig will know :thumbs:

Have you tried Show-home warehouse type places ? The stuff is not new, but has only been in show homes, so is a lot cheaper than new, and may be more reliable than ebay or gumtree etc. Their stuff ( all sorts, sofas, beds, tables, suites, shelves and so on ) changes regularly as they get new bits in, and although a lot is tat, there are some good bargains to have.

I think someone should check out the laws on old furniture. When I was clearing my mother's house, she had 2 fairly nice 3 piece suites and no house clearance place would touch them as they didn't have the relevant fire regulation lables on. Ended up dumping them.
