Bryan 1,362
he was a hotch poch of terrriers that had the look of sealy's but they were putting in wire haired russells and other cross bred terriers that didnt improve their line but didnt ruin it either apart from the coat, if the old fashoned sealy was so good why were they nearly always used doubled or more at a time and why are they so scarce now because if they were the dog danglies everyone would have one. So are you saying MR, CR and JT were digging doubled up? Quote Link to post

What was he like to work? his sire was a white lakie an the dam was just a well bred white bitch, he was a hard dog there's no getting away from it that he was a good dog AV been told many story's about the dog off the lads that were working him but he was just doing his job like many dogs have done since him but they haven't been broad castes like he did he's well non with been in books an going to Ireland atb 1 Quote Link to post

So are you saying MR, CR and JT were digging doubled up? no , i am saying look back much farther when it was well documented and even film footage of lucas using his dogs to badgers which was legal you will see more than one dog been used, my point is if they were so good why use more than one plus at least lucas were sealyhams the dogs that morris and colin used were mearly mixed breeds that happened to resemble the sealyham, but i think you know what i meant. neil cooney 10,416
Lucas in his books mentions entering up to 18 terriers on a badger, so what, it's well documented that the legendary fell terriermen would enter up 5 terriers on a fox !!! Methods 100 years ago have no impression what so ever on todays terrier or terrierwork. 3 Quote Link to post
p3d 879
Brenners original question was Known Jack Russells, "one Eyed Jack " And "the General" Sums it up, These terriers were not related to Edwardes Sealyham Kennel and they had no relation to Rev. John Russells kennel either. They are a rough Russell / Sealyham type. We have to call them something. The type of burrow that they work the quarry in dictates the size of the dog. Quote Link to post
