Ideation 8,216
Come on guys, I don't get it. Whether he has a special strain of ferret or not the guy is clearly looking for a bit of advice and not looking for an argument. At the end of the day we all come on here as part of our leisure time and to help with any problems we might encounter as well as a bit of socializing. We are under attack from other sources outside our sport, we don't need to start having a pop at each other at every given opportunity. At the end of the day we all love our dogs, birds, ferrets, guns or whatever so why not support each other rather than trying to inflate our own ego's or enforce our own opinions or "superior" knowledge onto another without being asked! I have always believed micro's and the like were runts but I am certainly open to the fact that there may be specialised strains out there somewhere, after all just because I haven't seen them doesn't make them the stuff of the imagination. I haven't seen a lot of things in this life but I am sure there are plenty of things out there that could surprise me still. Also, I haven't seen his stock first hand whether working or not so for all we know they could be far superior and advanced to our stinkers. Opinions are fine but lets not attack each other and try and keep it civilised, otherwise no one will ever bother asking for help. Pat Thanks.Someone with a brain cell I new a few exsisted on here. It's always good to see people resort to calling those people stupid. . . . who disagree with their slightly foolish points It's constructive to say the least Quote Link to post
Guest vin
Sounds like that mouse would be a good Jill for my small white hob to cover vin,,? They would most certainly be worker to worker bred. . . I was hoping young Kenneth was going to breed her this year but he works them too hard to let them have time off for breeding.. thats when he,s not being a TV personality of course.. the "Welsh Verminator". You Really need to get your head out of your arse When you post on an open forum you have got to expect critisism as well as advice . But there was some damm good advice on the post which you should take heed of . The critisism was of your write up some of which was constructive some had a go at what you had said Hope your jill is recovering Sam Quote Link to post
tiger82 43
Hi,had a problem with my micro/grey albino ferret jill the other evening. She's nearly 3 years old & had a litter of 5 kits 4 weeks ago.Everything has been going fine when the other evening she looked like she was playing in the saw dust like she does when I could see her rolling in distress when I got closer I could see she couldn't stand up & had lost the use totally of her front legs & her rear legs were weak. She had her front lip curled & was breathing really heavily.I bought her into my conservatory where the wife put her on a towel & I put warm water on the back of her neck & to drink thinking she might have heat stroke. She didn't improve & we were really getting more & more worried thinking I might loose her & the kits weren't weaned yet & needed her still. The misses started looking in the medical book & online for the symptoms then she asked me too get some food for her so I did & the misses started spoon feeding her the meat which to my surprise she ate. Things still weren't improving & I was thinking the worst when the misses called me & said 'look!' she was back to her feet walking around very wobbly but walking we bought the kits in in a cat box & put her back with her babies so not to cause them both any more distress. She was very tired let the kits feed & went to sleep.Expecting the worst in the morning I went into the conservatory to see her bouncing round the box like zeebedee on speed(back to usual). Just wondered if anyone has experienced this? I've put it down to a 1 off fit as she is fine now.Any thoughts anyone? Thanks Hi mate the ferrets are fine weaning at that age I have bred small ferrets over 10 years ago in Ferryhill people came all over for them and I know people will complain. but I did feed them dog food ( canned dog meat) and they where fine. I have read the topic and Yes you did thank the guys who replied to you but in the same quote you said 1 There greyhound cross micro ferret 2 Cold water for heat stroke is bad as it brings temp down to quick & can make them go into shock 3 Due to there small size they take longer to come on.Of course you guys have bred them for years so would no that 4Thank you guys that gave helpful advice on nutrition 5 If you haven't got anything constructive to say,why say anything! As I read the previous quotes the guys were just disagreeing with your statements that Micro Greyhound ferrets took longer to wean and one your use of warm water to cool down the ferret .Both of their points are valid. Then you said It was a serious question & I thought people on here could help! Some do but all the other idiots slag & have a go. No wonder people don't post anymore! Then Thanks.Someone with a brain cell I new a few exsisted on here. It seems that you don't like any comments off guys that question you or your thoughts or those that have a bit of light hearted banter When you retaliate to the banter you open yourself up for more just take-in the good info and let the rest go over your head Sam Quote Link to post
kanigra 110
I've been coming on this site since it started then had a break cos of all the so called banter(slagging) then a friend said it had got better so I came back since then have put up very few posts then ask for a bit of advice & some of you start having a go. So no not really interested anymore thanks! Quote Link to post

People fed bread and milk because they didn't know any better MILK IS BAD FOR FERRETS .... Ferrets are lactose intolerant and milk just scats straight through them ... Just look at the yellow squirts shit they produce compared with a nice thick black shit they get from meat ... Whether you THINK its good for them or not the FACT is that it has been PROVED THAT MILK IS BAD FOR FERRETS .............. 5 Quote Link to post
