jamesmc 582
I only started making my own nets season before last so Im no expert. Started out making straight nets 3ft 6 long 15 meshes wide and they catch very well but I dont realy like that ammount of twine on the ring. my last 20 or so nets are 10 12 14 16 18 20 for 14 rows 18 16 14 12 10 4ft nets. A shaped net catches as well as a straight net as far as I can see. don't really like the amount of twine on the ring myself unless it is 1 1/4" rings.... Quote Link to post

jamesmc 582
Aye i want to catch rabbits no scrimp on a bit of twine these nets are for personal use,.....so there won't be any scrimping... ,I have always knitted and used 4 footers,18 meshes wide,1 1/4" rings,.....but they do the exact same as the shaped nets,so I have knitted a few shaped to use this season,.......that's the joys of knitting them yourself, you can knit them to suit the ground you hunt....atb... Falls apart a bit when Ive someone who dont know my bag though and they start putting 4ft`s or 5ft pokes over small fist sized bolt holes, you can regularly see me watching, seething on some other part of the warren... coneyman999 17
i prefer shaped james think they go down easier and you get more out your twine jmo Agree mate. Shaped for me. 7-14,14,14,14-7...2 1/4" board gives a 42" net. Wouldn't go any smaller personally. 18 nets per ball. Holds the biggest rabbits no probs exactly same pattern I use, perfect nets! Fergus 18
On the topic of shaped nets....Do you guys decrease a mesh on the outermost loop or alternatively the second last/second in? Does it matter if two meshes are knitted together on the net edge or just on the second loop inside the net? Hope that makes sense... Quote Link to post
