Hendy 0
Its great to have found this forum. I have just acquired a lurcher pup and she is doing very well. She has replaced a staffie whippet lurcher bitch that I lost recently. The previous bitch had been rehomed to us and wasn't a working lurcher but a pet, she should have worked though as she had all the heart and ability of a good lurcher. She was not steady to livestock unfortunately so I was unable to take her out rabbiting with friends that regularly take out their lurchers. I hope to be able to bring my new pup on, so that she can be a pet but also learn the 'job' of being a proper lurcher. We as a family, are members of the local beagle pack and take part in all their meets and social activities, so we have been going out with them for years.. but its a far cry from training and working a lurcher, so I have joined this forum to try and broaden my knowledge and maybe pick up some training tips for bringing on a pup. I am lucky as I have friends that I can also get advice from and maybe even go out rabbiting with at some point when my pup is ready. She is responding really well to basic training and I am pleased to say that she has inherited the collie brain and greyhound legs that are part of her genetic make up! I am looking forward to reading everyones posts with interest
