Ideation 8,216
Just some thoughts - folk are suggesting a pet bred border - but unless you plan on remortgaging your house. . . . maybe this won't work If I was you, and i'm not. . . . . i'd go and look for a wee scruffy mongrely x-bred terrier, or 'russel type' which you could probably find in a shelter (as a pup). Shouldn't have too many health issues, and the personality should be ok with decent up bringing and it will probably kill a few rats if you wanted. 1 Quote Link to post

bobby blackheart 1,209
beddy-that was my first terrier when i was a kid-went everywhere with me,and we used to have some fun-or beddy/whip?less chance of them flying to ground?all terriers make good pets if socialized tidy-always give them a escape route and somewhere quiet to go-as young kids can test the best of dogs-imho-i have a old patt bitch in the house retired now-110% with my 3 and 2 year olds-if they get to much she slips through the stair gate and chills on the landing-even then i wouldnt leave them unattended-dog follows me where ever i go.atb on what you decide. 1 Quote Link to post
Cáit Thorpe 7
I've two borders and a nine month old baby, my borders work a bit, but not 'seriously' (mice/rats and the odd rabbit) and my bitch was a pet way before she worked because I only really got into all that the past 3 years n she's 5 now. They're no bother with the bairn, if anything a bit disinterested (unless he's covered in food) which disappointed me a bit. I reckon a lot of borders can make great pets if that's how you raise them =) Quote Link to post
