Hi there :bye:

When i purchased my new HW100 recently, i too decided to by a rangefinder for the first time. The one i opted for was the Hawke Pro Solar 600. Since february when i purchased the rangefinder, it has not missed a beat, and the good thing about this model is that, it has a built in battery, and to charge it up, you simply put the solar panel in the sun for about an hour or so every now and then to keep it fully charged. The rangefinder also comes with another back up battery, and should you loose all the charge while out in the field, you simply slip the spare battery in to the allocated compartment, and all power is restored.

Here is a link to the one that i purchased,

Hi Mole Trapper, I have a LRF 600 Hawke, not the solar one. It's been very reliable it's supposed to be more waterproof than the 400 model but otherwise just the same with a bit more range. The solar one does not have the rain mode that the 400 & base 600 have, I see you are in Cornwall ,if you are in the far south/west I could give you a demo.

what ever it is it needs the angle of inclanasion thing.

looking at the foot of a building will say 45 yards, looking at the top you can get anything from 47 to 50 yards..

with the inclansion correcting it tells you how far the building actual is..its easier and better.

Thats why i went with the pro solar model. I figured that this feature would be more useful than the other Hawke models that have the Rain Mode, but not the Angle Indication,

I went for the hawke 400 because it was the cheapest I could find, it works flawlessly and has been dragged around everywhere and it's still up and running, to allow the battery to last take it out after every trip, I haven't had to change mine yet since I got it in January and I shoot every week
