nickdonboy 264
Saw a wee 5 month old pup yesterday, at first glance it looked like a deerhound cross until I asked the dude what it had in it. Obviously you can't determine its ability from looks but it was a fast wee thing and seemed pretty switched on. It was pretty leggy with a rich chocolate brown coat, a gorgeous dog to say the least. Curious to know if anyone runs pointer in their dogs? I'm aware they're intelligent and have good noses. Looked similar to this http://www.lasthope.ie/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/GermanPointerMay-03-2013.jpg Edited June 20, 2013 by nickdonboy Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,102
This is something I am interested in,I am about to loose my shorthaired pointer to age, If I am honest I am fighting the decision as I am attached to him.I have heard along time ago, of people useing pointer and crossing it to lab and collie,I have allso heard of them crossed with greyhound, I myself have never seen one in the feild, but people who I held in high regard raved about them,I love the pointer breed, and I know that I will buy another, and after buying pedigrees for years, then getting my little wippet cross, I think that I shall venture down the lines of pointer cross, should I find one from good stock,I can tell you from my own expierience of my dog, up to this last two year has had masses of stamina, high work ethic. quick with a first class nose, and very versatile, mine is the short haired and If I am honest thats his weakness,in hard weather the breed has to be a good breed to cross with in my opinion, 1 Quote Link to post

beast 1,884
used to know two old boys when i lived in norfolk. they had worked on the elveden estate years before, harvesting literally thousands of rabbits every year. they would breed collies to pointers or seters to work with the long nets, reckoned they took to this game very easily. both men are long since dead but had a million fscinating tales and taught me a lot about dogs and hunting 1 Quote Link to post
