tyephillips 0
Hello Guys,I need some help/advice with tuning etc.I have a 2010 tx200hc mk3 in .177 all standard parts that i am going to service in the near future, it is running about 10.5 ftlbs with 4 washers of spring load with no issues.Rather than just a standard service i would like some advice on increasing the power back up to about 11.8 ftlbs but at the same time reduce the amount of washers (spring load) used. Also i would like to make the action noise as quiet as a tx200 can possibly be with the above power level, i have already added a custom made carbon Nutshot silencer that has taken away all muzzle noise which to be fair there was not alot of, I know you will always have action noise with a springer and also down range the nosie isn`t as harsh but would just like it to be a bit more quieter if possible.I have read many threads on here regards the tx200 especially the one regards short stroking the mk3, very interesting but none really touch on the noise levels, i have also researched the option of a v-mach kit but not to keen on the £85 outlay on a already sweet running rifle and still may not reduce noise. i have also looked at vortek seals and kits which look ok but know nothing about them.So would really appreciate some help with the above and also to point me in the right direction on where to purchase parts if needed or have them made.Cheers and all the best. Mawders 595
Hi mate, Every tx or pro sport from the factory is slightly different with how many washers you get with the spring. My pro sport had no washers just the spring! My mates pro sport had 2 washers and the spring! Julian bond on the air arms owners forum is the chap to contact as he sells all official air arms parts at a discounted rate direct to your door! Ask him for a service kit for your tx and tell him you want a spring that will nearly run at the required limit without as many washers. Although I would be more than happy with the power your tx is running at and wouldn't want it running as high as you want it! Less is usually best as far as springers go, less kick and a more refined firing cycle. More accurate as well as far as I'm concerned. At your current power you will kill vermin at max distances, max distances for me would be 55 meters or there abouts. Hope this helps mate Mawders Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
I would much rather have a springer doing 10.5 than 11.8 SKoT Edited June 16, 2013 by Skot Ruthless Teale 1 Quote Link to post
AR177 588
The extra 1.3 ftlbs will give you no great benefits I doubt you would even notice the difference and adding more power is counter productive with your goal of making the rifle as quiet as possible The only thing it will do is put you at risk of getting into trouble with the law having it that high Edited June 16, 2013 by AR177 Quote Link to post
A1WOC 212
My .177 TX200HC chronographs at 710fps (9.5ftlb) and is ultra smooth, extremely accurate with a trajectory curve not dissimilar to my .177 HW100kt at 11.4ftlb. It may be a little noisy with only the standard insert in the shroud but when I fit a Hugget moderator via an adapter it is very quiet for a springer. Is it really necessary to run at maximum permissible power in an air rifle to achieve results? I think not, I am more than happy with the way mine performs. Regards, Steve Quote Link to post
tyephillips 0
Thanks for the info, not to focussed on power and the general feedback is that the tx200 runs sweeter between 10 -10.5 so may just keep at that level, so just curious regards getting the action noise as low as possible...
