Looking For Advice On A New Hatsan Escort

Recommended Posts

Hi. I purchased a brand new Hatsan 12g semi auto 3 inch chanber this week and took it out for the first time today using 28g 8's and 28g 7.5 . it fired the first cartridgr ok, the bolt came back but it wont eject it. The bolt just pushed it back into the chamber and the next cartridge ended up out of the mag tube under the bolt. After emptying it out I tried using 32g SG's 70mm but the same thing happened. Please can some one give me ant idea what could be causing it. The ejector clip is not stuck.

I also noticed what may be a fault with the fired cartridge. On my old gun the end of the empty cartridge would be round. but the fired cartridges that were taken out of the Hatsan look rough

Would like to hear from any one with any ideas of what could be causing these problem..

Sorry to piss on your bonfire mate but it is a hatstand, take it back to the shop get your money back and buy a decent semi, they are a pile of crap and only fit to be used as a hatstand, a shop local to me now refuses to have them in the shop, he had so many back after selling them.

Thank you for your replies. I have now figured out why it would not work. When I brought this from the shop I was asked if I had owned a semi auto before to which I replied no. As the gun comes in 2 pieces in the box as new they offered to fit the burrel to the gun for me and part of this isputting the required parts on the gas system. The Hatsan semi auto has a small rubber washer which is part of the gas system. it turns out the shop had placed this washer in the wrong place. The washer should sit next to the piston. They had placed it outside the gun just under the screw cap. After spotting this and checking with another shop where the washer should be, it now works well.

Look i have a five shot escort and i had the same problem with it when i got it. i messed with the cart size until i found a lenght that worked well, since then i have had no problems at all, i have had mine 2 years now and i get on ok with it. but they are cheap and cheerful, i got mine because i want something that i dont have to worry about in the field so if i bust it it wont break my heart, unlike a very expensive scope i had on my rifle for 2 weeks, when i dropped the rifle and broke the objective bell clean off, now its cheap and cheerful scopes too.

Geoff.223, Yes. Once I placed the rubber washer where it should be it is cycling every thing I have put through it inc 24g 7.5 65mm 28g 7.5 and 8 67mm and 34g 9ball SG's 70mm. So far I h ave used RC and Gamebore cartridges in it with out problem. I am told it is better to use the 70mm and 76mm cartridges in them but I have had no problem with the others.

My hatsans work fine on both 12g and 20g, never had any issue with shells.

12 shoots 24gr to 53gr

20 shoots 21gr to 34gr

I always had Beretta in my life (and still have) but the wee Hatsan does the job as well.....and for the price... you don't mind it it receives a rough treatment especially when wildflowing!

Thanks,

Franco

They have a terrible reputation, I wouldn't buy one that's for sure, put your money into one often many alternatives even if it's 2nd hand, Benelli, Berretta, Winchester, anything but a hatstand.

A pitchfork would be better than some of the hatstands I have seen perform lol
