danco1987 27
I've been shooting one of my permissions now since Easter and have been really happy each time I've taken out my tench regged BSA Scorpion T-10 .177 - it's accuracy is fantastic. I visit it once or twice a week (weather permitting) and have shot 25-30 rabbits since Easter. The T-10 loves 177 JSB Exact 10.3 gr heavy pellets and it produces clover shaped groups at 37 yards (zero range) and 5p sized groups at 48 yards. Power wise it shoots consistently at the 706 fps mark (11.4fpe) and it's topped with a Hawke Nite-eye 3-12x50AO scope zeroed at 37 yards and that gives me a one mildot holdover on x9 magnification at 48 yards which is the max distance I shoot at, most times I try to stalk closer if possible. Thought I'd share this picture from my hunting session last night. Now the grass is long in the paddocks, the rabbits can't see me sneak up on them. As I crept along the thick hedge and tree line on this permission, the top rabbit popped up out of the long grass and I lasered it at 55 yards, slightly too far for my liking so crept closer a bit more. The rabbit came out onto the wood chippings track and looked to be heading towards the hedge line and I thought it would jump back into the thick veg where the warrens are but instead it started coming towards me. I dropped to the ground, bipod dug into the wood chipping track. It hopped closer and closer to me so I squeaked when it was at about 48 yards and it turned sideways on. I'd been practising literally 10 mins before on a target at 48 yards so I gave it one mildot holdover and as steady as a rock squeezed the crisp, smooth rowan trigger (high recommended btw) and thump - the jsb hit hard - the rabbit fell stone dead. On hearing the impact sound a few rabbits ran for the warrens but the second rabbit in the picture stopped at around 37 yards, bang on zero. I reloaded as soon as the first rabbit hit the ground and within 5 seconds or so the jsb exact heavy pellet made a right mess of the smaller one. Really happy with this rifle - the accuracy is fantastic and allows for pin point shot placement which is key to air rifle hunting imo. It even shoots lovely out to longer distances tbh but when hunting I keep within 48 yards although the closer to my zero I can stalk the better. Also here's another couple of more pictures. I strapped my LED zoomable 1 mode cree torch with a deben red filter to the T-10 a couple of weeks back and had these four nice rabbits. The last picture I took a week ago when this bunny popped out about 15 or so yards in front of me when I was sitting in wait, think you can just about see it - I took the photo on my phone so not the best. It was far too small to eat and thought I'd let it grow before I shoot it in the future so I didn't take the shot. I waited for an adult which took a good 20 mins to show and took it instead at 35 yards and the little fella still didn't hop back in. Only when I went to collect the adult bunny did it finally clock on and made a run for it. Edited June 15, 2013 by danco1987 1 Quote Link to post
