A Big Thank You To Davyt63

Recommended Posts

well the chrono results are in after davy did my spring., with jsb 8.44gr it was doing 11.8 now its doing 8.2

couple of washers to bump it up slightly and it will be sorted at about 9.5-10 for the meet :bye:

hi skott

the delrin spacer that comes with the V Mach kit is 4.22mm the preload washers that come with the V Mach kit is 1.23mm

i took off 2 coils at 11.69mm which should work out at 1.8fpe per coil? so it should equate if you use the delrin spacer, it should bring it back by 2.7fpe to 10.9fpe?

i think you should try three preload washers, this i believe will get you near to 9.5/9.8fpe ?

please let me know how it goes

the calculations i have done are from my own finding, this may differ from yours?

Hi guys just wanted to publicly say another big thankyou to Davy for helping me, and going out of his way to help a fellow airgunner   I sent him my vmach mainspring so he could shorten it for me a

hi its no more than i would do for any of you guys after all thats what we are here for,to help one another and take the piss of course goes without saying

Top lad davy, full stop. Except at 5.30 am when the drunken bum smashes into your tent with a 'come hither big boy' look about him, thats just scary lol

bloody hell davy didn't realise there was so much science and maths involved :icon_eek::laugh::laugh:

haha only joking mate..

new calculation for you.. ive just put 1 washer in and the delrin spacer (as my pm said) and just got the rifle back together for the 4th time this week  .. and im not bloody stripping it down again  seen enough of its insides to last me a lifetime

so what you recon it will be doing then now with spacer + 1 washer

so it might be just over 11 judging by your last post..

I guess the hw97 and the tx200 have different cylinders , different weight pistons, different volumes and all that lol so will be slightly different

guess we will see when I chrono it again, probably Tuesday night.

il keep you updated bud

hi Skott

yes buddy there will be different tollerences between the Air Arms and the HW97,I would try just the delrin spacer for now, then if you need to add a washer all you need to do is take the trigger unit out, grease the washer both sides sparringly and stick it to the bottom of the top hat  and put the spring back in.

Sounds like between you, you are going to have a brilliant setup rifle Skot. Ive been reading this with interest as my .177 HW97KT as settled now and bedded in at 11.4 FPE with AA Fields and im thinking im going to get it taken down to between 10 and 10.5 FPE.

Going off your calculations if I take off 3/4 of a coil my rifle will go from 11.4 to 10 FPE.

:icon_eek: I can see that we might well get some tent sharing at the next THL meet, that is until Si calls and Davy will dump you :icon_eek: .

Roger I saw the twinkle that you had in your eye for Davy at the wedding when he was all suited and booted ;) .

I secretly think that you have a tiny lump in your pants for him :whistling::tongue2:.

Back to the thread "sorry VM" :tongue2::D . Yes Davy is a top bloke  .

I will never ever trust Laura again, she said that she would never tell about my "little lump".

Everybody will now see what I was meaning about you two (Si and Davy) having something going on between you two. We start picking on little Davy and who steps in but Big Bad Si.

Si.

don't forget Si there are other variables, your spring is a SFS spring, probably different to the springs from a vmach kit..

might have tighter coils or thicker steel or something like that haha

its all very scientific isn't it

what I will say is, as standard and self fettled both my 97's were very smooth.. the .22 more so, and very easy to cock with the .177 considerably more effort was needed to cock it.. both close to 12 FPE

but at 8 FPE yesterday the .177 was nearly cocking itself it was that easy!!

and it does seem a lot easier to shoot at 8.2 compared to 11.8 a lot less recoil, I was watching pellets fly through the air, through the scope!! never done that before with a springer,, not even when lamping :boogy:

I would also like to thank davy63t .

Davy also took a coil off for me and polished the spring and I can't thank him enough

My 97 was doing over 12fpe with Falcon accuracy plus 7.33gn and 11.55 with jsb exacts 8.44 being new to springers I was just at a loss what to do.

I posted on here and davy pmd me gave me his number and that was that sorted.

The spring arrived this morning and im now just waiting on my grease to arrive from sfs and ill get the rifle back together and chrono it .

The man is a true gent and a pleasure to talk to.

So thank you davy

Cheers

i recently checked my 97and found it to be high,i took of one coil and compressed it.now its running at 10.2fpe and hopefully it will bed in to around 10.4 fpe

also had the same problem with my AATX once i fitted the V Mach kit,12.2 once fitted :icon_eek:

but after a quick fettle, its now at 9.1fpe hoping for it to settle at 9.5fpe

let me know how you get on,when you put it over the chronograph
