Dazzam 239
Texted one of my permissions today to see if it was ok to go for a wee nosey on his land this afternoon to see how the rabbit population was getting on. His text back was only if I caught no less than 20 rabbits and that his son tagged along. It would have been too rude to have refused . Collared a couple of last years youngsters and an older experienced jill, grabbed the two 50yd quicksets and away I went. When I landed his son met me all kitted out and complete with a quad.....handy piece of kit . The first set we done was a 20 holer and we just surrounded it with the quicksets and in went the ferts. Within seconds rabbits were bolting but mainly wee bunnies which either just hole hopped or slipped through the longnet, however an adult buck was caught. This was pretty much the order of the day but we still managed a fair number of rabbits though not quite the 20 mark. It was so nice to get out into the countryside again. I reckon the next time we do this permission we'll have another pair of hands and a quad . Here's a few pics of today and one of an unlikely spectator. ATB Daz 2 Quote Link to post

Dazzam 239
Bet it was nice too be out ,its going to be a long summer Yep, to be honest i'm fed up already. On a plus note the owner of the land I was on contacted me earlier to see if could get him two young jills for his young son who tagged along with me yesterday. So it sounds like his son had a great time yesterday and wants to take up ferreting. It's always great to see the youngsters taking a keen interest. Quote Link to post

Dazzam 239
Guys, I understand what you are all saying but it's a small price to pay to see a youngster taking up the sport. He's only about 12/13 and Friday was his first time ever out ferreting and he took to it very well. No inhibitions whatsoever with the ferrets or culling the rabbits, or should I say trying to cull them so i'll do what I can to encourage him. 3 Quote Link to post
vermin catcher 219
Since I couldn't make it,who did any digging? Once you hand him the spade id say your permission is safe,i know that's how you have put me off ferreting for life! 1 Quote Link to post
