Lurchers catching Pheasants and Feather?

Recommended Posts

Typical: after saying that yesterday about wood pigeon, I go out this morning and nearly come back with a green woodpecker! It was searching for ants next to the undergrowth around the base of an oak tree and the bitch stalked it. I thought its "laughing" as it made off would put her off but as they fly quite low she kept going after it occasionaly jumping up at it. I had a beardie cross once who tried it on with a heron and a canada goose

funny you should say about canda geese i do alot of shooting i had a terrier he was a red lakeland real leggy no good for earth work but he loved going out with the gun would retriev anything we was out one day in the season walking round a lake were i shoot and some came over and i dropped two one landed in the water and he swam out and retrived it it took him about 10 mins but he got it he is now retired and lives with my mum but still gets out now and then with me

All of my dogs be they terriers or lurchers have worked on water....all except the wheaten cross bitch...she wouldn't go near it for some reason. But she would take it on land when she could

My current lurcher has taken loads of pheasants and ducks and is steady as a rock with poultry. It pays to get the hard work done in the early months
