well my input would be good fit collies working up sheep cattle theyd be fit and youd know there smart listen to commands been bred from lines for there agility fitness keenness to stay on the job sure why use a working one when theres one down the street doing nothing like people breeding bull x breeding of sh*ite fat pets or would you rather breed of a pure bull doing its job

I worked as a hill shepherd for many years when I was a youngster...I worked sheep and cattle with my collies and also hunted them alongside my lurchers and terriers...and lamped rabbits with them too. Had some grand days and lots of good memories.

 

Many times when I was on the hills herding/gathering sheep my collies would put foxes up and run and kill them and they were pretty good at it too. They would ignore rabbits when they were on the sheep job but foxes and deer were much too tempting...

I just wanna see a dog go to the head on whatever critter its messin with. I dont care if its a cow or a coon, I want that sumbitch at the front end at least 90% of the time. A good collie should act that way. If they dont then they pure shit in my opinion. You wouldnt know that by playing ball with one.

WHATS MADE ME THINK ABOUT THIS ME MATE HAS JUST LOST HIS COLLIE AT THE AGE OF 14 WITH CANCER, THE PARENTS TO IT ADD NOT SEEN A SHEEP, HE LAMPED THE DOG WHEN YOUNG, IT GOT ODD ONES WHEN IT WENT OUT,,PHESANTS AT NITE IT WAS SPOT ON, FERRETING 100 PERCENT, PERFECT MARKER, RETREVE PERFECT,, THIS COLLIE ADD BIN MORE INVOLVED IN THE SPORT WE DO AND LIKE I SAY NOT OFF PARENTS, WORKING SHEEP,,,,AND THE FITTNESS WAS BRILLIANT,,, I HAVE SOME PICS OF IT SOME WERE, WITH FEATHER ANF FUR,,, AND THE TYRE,S ON THE CAR WAS SAFE,,,

As ive said in other threads ive seen a few genuine first cross litters, all were bred from leggy hill Collies, that worked Sheep.

These dogs worked all day out on the hill, not trial dogs.

My muka has bred out of his farm collie bout 3 yr ago from bitch ova side of Brecon used on the hill for the sheep but used to ferret lamp n by dig if ova dog laid up. Very clever animals that no [BANNED TEXT] they out to hunt or out to round the sheep. Or rule the cattle round the yard
