matty thud 42
phoned up firearms department yesterday to get some land checked out wich turns out not to be passed so person on phone said would have to send a cover note and permission form in to get it checked . so just wonderd if it has to be origenal permission form or a photo copey one instead. Alsone 789
What permission form are you using? I'd be careful with some eg BASC one doesn't mention any permission to bring anyone else along with you thus potentially leaving shooting companions open to prosecution for armed tresspass. Some I've seen don't mention that termination must be in writing and by registered post. (The latter is necessary to stop you being prosecuted if ther'es a problem involving the police and the landowner suddenly turns around and says he's terminated permission. Verbally he can say what he likes, but by registered post and in writing he will have to show that he terminated it with delivery proof. It's never 100% but it gives you some protection). AR177 588
I'd send the original to the police but make sure you keep at least 1 photocopy for yourself I don't suppose it matters really but if your in doubt ring them up again Quote Link to post
AR177 588
I think they are generic land permission forms, these are the Cambridgeshire ones http://www.cambs.police.uk/firearms/forms/landauth.pdf Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
I prefer the BASC ones as they don't go into specifics like calibre etc. - just "firearms". I have edited mine to exclude the photo and reg no. and added "And supervised shooting partner". Covers all bases then. Quote Link to post
