Meerihunter 7
I've kept Pure salukis for 11 years now and would'nt have anything, I run mine only on small fields and in rough ground/woods these days. They box and control their quarry better than other running dogs, my Saluki Bitch can stay ahead of all our lurchers and her stamina is in another league ever compared to my SalukiXs. Saluki can courseand kill on fens on daytime hares then lamp and catch ferreted rabbits and take deer and fox well? can the same be said of other crosses? With regard to the Saluki Video, Arabs have tried english greyhounds and saluki/greys on gazelle and hare out there and they all where reported to have died through exhaustion due to the heat and the sustained running and their feet were destroyed from the rough ground. Oriental sighthounds are the hounds of choice from eastern europe to china and fom southern russia to north africa and india and they have been for thousand upon thousands of years unchanged. Logic says there most be something special about them. Quote Link to post

Where abouts do you do your running meerihunter? Quote Link to post

Meerihunter 7
I'm from NE england ashington/bedlington I lived near wooler for a good few years so did a lot round that way then I moved to Lauder area for a couple of years back down to northumberland for another few years, now I'm north of dundee. I've hunted as far down as Thirk afew times but mostly gone up the the way. Mooching and ferreting is my main sport with my Salukis. Quote Link to post

Guest SJM
SJM the only thing you seem to be good at is insulting people including minor's and clap at and encourage others to do it! I dont recall insulting anyone under the age of 16 on this thread so who is the minor your referring to? There is plenty of people acting like big weans right enough Quote Link to post
Guest joe ox
SJM I asked you a question post 398 and you have not answered are you not capable of putting together a post without insults in it? HH of HU is a 14 year old boy who was insulted by grown men/women on another site you were involed in it and encouraged it. I asked you once before on here if you thought that was acceptable you declined to answer! Quote Link to post
Guest SJM
Joe you wouldnt be bringing your personal fued over from another forum would you now? The very same thing you pulled me up for just recently? Yes I was a part of the piss taking on another site, I said something to the effect of pitying the lad considering what his parents are like. I actually take back what I said as the lad doesnt seem to get involved in the online brawls and shows more maturity than both his parents put together, so HH you have my sincere apologies lad Joe, I havent bothered to answer your question because all you are interested in is lamping lurchers and going on about taking hares at night neither of which hold much interest for me. My comment was directed towards Tyson and if I want to reply to you Ill use your name so you know Im talking to you Edited August 18, 2007 by SJM Quote Link to post

Thank's Meerihunter, for clarifying that.I did think, that if greyhounds could run down gazelle in 30 seconds, why have the arabs been running saluki's for hundreds maybe even thousands of years. Yes these days all I am interested in is lamping lurchers but I started out daytime coursing as a lad with saluki crosses and did so for quite a few years so have quite a bit experience of it. Your comment was said to tyson but was a indirect dig at me. Edited August 18, 2007 by joe ox Quote Link to post
IanB 0
I can see this topic getting locked soon as its getting stupid ... I can't honestly believe some think a night-time hare is easier than one in day-light, theres no comparison, yes in some areas were they are ran, and ran, and ran by people they become lamp shy and harder to come to terms on, but then the area is also a big factor too, small fields, hedges, fences, woods can make them put one or two turns in and their gone....everyone is entitled to their own opinion at the end of the day...
