its quite simple nite dog i wanted the best lamping dog to go over my bitch as she is pretty usful on the lamp

you know joe , i have just re red evrything on this thread.

 

and all i have done is dissagreed with one thing you have said

 

that post i dissareed with is on page 4 post 48 . its the one where you imply that a hare on the fen must be easy to catch as the land is so large.

 

i have no axe to grind as regards colie crosses or minshaw dogs in fact quite the reverse. and have on a number of ocasions had arguments with people who pulled ASD down about taking large bags of hares on the lamp. one joker who thought taking double figure hares was easy.

 

just because i dissagree with somthing you say, doesnt mean im having a dig. and thers no need to get personal

 

I never said in any of my posts fen hares where easy I did however suggest they were easier but not easy no hare is easy there the ultimate athlete a dog is tested against. You didnt disagree you said that I think hares are easy on the fens in a derogatory way towards me.

ok so you say fen hares are NOT EASY. but they are esier. easier than WHAT! . Do you mean they are easier than your local hares. if so , how do you know as you have never ran a fen hare

Now this question is coming from someone whos never owned a dog for hares but i've watched some good courses in my county of Lincolnshire.

 

Why are fenland hares consireded by many to be superior to hares in other parts of the country? Is it the terrain that has produced better athletes as in many cases there is nowhere to hide, you must outrun your pursuer? Is it the crops grown here that differ from other parts of the country that produce nutritionally superior hares?

IMO it's not that the hares have nowere to hide it's the dogs that don't. They can't put up a good show and miss it at a wood or a hedge they have to stay till the end you see alot of good allround dogs pull up on fen hares ........FACT!!!!

to be honest not that brilliantly and i only have 1 saluki x the other dog is the kelpie cross in the pic on the other thread.

yes they do thank you the kelpi cross has never been on the fens though.
