true mate 40 degree heat is not nice, i have hunted in queensland a couple of times and i know about the heat. i think the biggest difference is the type of hunting we do 12 hr missions on foot up and down hills in the cold is alot different from letting loose the dogs off the back of a tray top once a mob is spotted, we work alot harder for our pigs where the hunting skill of the dog is the difference between getting a pig or just having a nature walk. i did enjoy the hunting in oz don't get me wrong just compared to here it was bloody easy. no carring out the pigs was a change lol

Done a few bits and pieces over that way years back when Boardogs was very young. Met some good lads andhad some great hunts. Going back this Summer for a rake about with my oppo.

 

 

There are some near me, but I've only been on some small jobs that I'd be embarassed to call pigs.

 

I've seen plenty of lurcher type jobs work over there and as Waz says, they find and bail.

guts is left in so the pigs can be inspected, the pork gets exported to germany like our venison

Kiwi is right, you leave heart, liver, lungs and kidneys so it can be inspected. Pigs are then exported for human consumption.

Spoke to PC a while back about his articles in the mag. He said to swing over his way when I'm next over so I'll definitely hook up. I should be getting into Brissy around June time then head down to Inverell after hunting Qld so if you are about it'd be good to buy you a beer or two mate.

Before I moved to Thetford, I worked on an Estate in Wittersham on the Kent/East Sussex borders.. (Wich shared a border with Paul McCartney's land)..

 

I used to shoot the odd Boar with a .308.. The Boars (males) tend to taste to strong when over 2-3 years old, So we just used to turn those into sausages..

 

Brede in E.Sussex is good too..

 

Roe kids/Hare Leveretts dont survive long in areas with a large Boar population.. Infact the populations crashed, but Fallow seem to do okay still though ?
