Chid 6,583
id keep and try any cross... but for my needs i know id be wasting my time with a bullx , wheatenx or deerhoundx not because there shit just because i wouldnt put the type of quarry in front of them what they are best at .. id prefer a lurcher x lurcher with some collie and grey in the mix ... or a whippet x grey ... morton 5,368
Whippet,Bull or terrier blood is not for me,any positives ive seen in them are far outweighed by the negatives they bring to the mix.Just don,t suit my hunting lifestyle, thats the crux, what an individual desires from the mix is less desirable to another, the beauty of lurchers i suppose, theres one there for anyones hunting persuasion. 1 Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
Funny ain't it... But it never stated in the title, 'dogs that you don't like' yet so many have put negative comments up about various crosses... The title says 'wouldn't keep' and I put Bedlington whippet, not because I don't like 'em, I've seen a few crackers, simply because a dog of that sort would be no use to me and what I'd want to run and how i'd want to work it. Simoman 110
Exactly bosun, one mans meat and all that. Personally I wouldn't keep anything with too much saluki or whippet blood in it. Blue Pocket Rocket, perhaps you should get a big 'ard looking bull cross, may prevent you be assaulted by disabled pensioners in tescos Quote Link to post
salukixgrey 779
bull crosses, couldnt pay me to keep one. Quote Link to post
BORDERSCOT 3,816
For me it's landscape driven...simple...average field size around here can't be much more than 20/30 acres surrounded by walls and wire (electric, plain, rylock and electric) and hedges...so saluki blooded dogs and large deerhound types would be wasted here far too much talent for what I need...the ground is rough hill land, forestry and stony, ditches, rivers, burns, sikes and gulleys, whins, bracken and gorse...so small whippets are gonna get broken seen and had it happen...collie xs suit me and where I run my dogs...my son has an alaunt x bull/grey who seems to be able to cope with what we have...they've gotta be hardy here...or they'll break... Tell you what though - I love to watch running dogs...no matter the breed and in a different location I'd be more than happy to run the xs I currently discount... 4 Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
A good dog can't be a bad cross. I appreciate seeing any dog work that is proficient in it's work....... Quote Link to post
