A1WOC 212
Loading the ten shot magazine of my AA410 with .22 AA Field pellets is easy, they just drop into the holder through the hole in the clear Perspex cover, and then I rotate the holder to align with the hole for the next pellet. The problem I have been having is the pellet falls out through the same loading hole in the Perspex when the magazine is turned over if it isn’t set in the half indexing location AA illustrate in the manual. Upon examination the rotating holder has an O-ring around the circumference off-set nearer to the back plate to prevent the pellets going all the way through and dropping out when loading. By dismantling the magazine (take care not to lose the spring & BB) and turning the holder over and re-assembling with the O-ring closer to the clear Perspex, the pellet thumbs in nicely but this time when the magazine is turned over the pellet stays put, this is because the O-ring is now positioned in the waist of the pellet. I only carried out this modification a couple of days ago; it has proved successful for the 100 or so pellets I have loaded up to now, and I see no reason why it shouldn’t continue performing well. WoodsmanJim 160
I'm not familiar with this mag, but from your description it sounds like a great idea! I wonder why AA never realised this? Jim Quote Link to post
Buster321c 1,010
Your better getting a new o ring . At the end.of the day its been designed to be used the way it is Quote Link to post
Wildling 520
Yeah but not all designs are perfect, and some blokes love to tinker. 1 Quote Link to post
Buster321c 1,010
And some never take advise when its offered . The idea of the o ring is to stop the pellet falling through , not to hold it . The only 'mods' worth doing to that mag , are a coil off the spring and drill through the casing of the mag , on the last couple of pellets that are visable when its on the gun , so as it indexes round ( very smoothly with a coil off ) you will see daylight through the holes hou drilled and know when your down to your last pellet . 6 Quote Link to post

I do take you point and respect the advice offered. As original makers specification the O-ring stops the pellet falling through when inserted into the magazine. What I found was when the magazine is fully loaded the exposed indexed pellet frequently fell out from the loading side prior to inserting into the rifle. By turning the holder over the O-ring prevents the pellet falling out from either side. An alternative solution of only loading nine pellets, leaving the exposed indexed holder empty was suggested on another forum was a more attractive solution (for me at least) to the problem encountered in a hunting environment. A very good point and one that sadly as you say lots of blokes don't do. Quote Link to post
