ten grand and its yours "Global rifle. Sniper systems"

You can get a marine Scout system for £5K or Accuracy International for around the same.

There are also some AI guns here for less than £3K:

One other thing to remember, its also down to the shooting skills as much as the gun.

I'm a great fan of this guys videos, not sure what he was, ex military but I suspect Marine Scout Sniper or similar. He's an awesome shot and gives some great product advice in his sniper series of 42 videos.

He even factors the earths rotation and ambient temperature into his calculations!

This guy has 1,500 yard shots with 1st time hits on video as well as this one - 1,021 yards with .243 using a budget Ruger M77 and SWA scope - 2nd shot! 1st shot missed due to hotter ammo than expected due to the sunlight!

Awesome coach as well!

Here he hits a beer can from 1,236 yards with .338 Lapua - 1st shot!

That is 1 small target!

Just shows how much shooting skill comes into it especially with a target that small or a cheap rifle / scope combination.

Finally if you think thats a fluke, 1,804 yards 1st shot with .338 lapua in windy conditions!:

I've seen a few of this blokes videos. He's definately a sh** hot marksman!

I'm guessing he's jesting or means a 440 can as opposed to a 200ml.

For me, I could miss this one at that range!

PS sorry its gone slightly off topic Paul.

We're still on sniping skills but I guess less on your course. It sounds like you had a great day.

i have been doing some 600 yrd target practice lately.elv is down to ammo quality and a steady rest.you can spend 5k or 500 but if the chap with the 500 pound rifle makes that wind call better then that 5k wont help.despite those vids being shot on a fairly still day that was still good ammo and wind call.my little 223 with amax that has a very good bc in a 10 mph wind at 600 drifts 34.3 yet if the wind was 8 it shifts 27.4 thats 7" at 600 for a small error.in short good wind call in that vid

I'd love to get into 300-600 yard range shooting, but there just doesn't seem to be any clubs around my way, (Stratford on Avon, Warks) Or not that i can find anyhow!

He does a shed load of videos on really indepth stuff. Tutorials on all sorts. I'll have a look at calling wind me thinks.......

I fear a lot of wanna-be rambos on this thread lol

shooting at long range is not a dark art or luck its knowing how to past 1000-1200 you need to think spindrift (bullet spin from rifleing takeing it off line) air temp even coriolis affect, hight above SL and angle of shot. and the ever present wind no only where you are but down to the target.

out to 5-600m is FAIRLY simple as long as you know the range and wind past 6-7 it starts getting harder

ive shot out to 1500m with 300wm 270wssm 6.5-47 and even 220 swift with 80grn bullets and ive had 10inch groups at 1000m with high end hunting rifles and home loads

wanna be Rambos using a bolt action rifle?, methinks not, technical challenge of working out point of aim correction by calculation from wind speed, and elevation based on distance current temp., humidity, type of ammo etc., for hopefully a first time hit at distance?, yes. I could really get into this BIG time. Nowt to do with Rambo mate, I can assure you!!

Why do the posts on this thread make you think the members who wrote them are, "a lot of wanna-be rambos on this thread", when all of the posts written are of modesty. Where as your post comes across as boastful and narcissistic :whistling:

Not cheap £220.00 for the day.

Was the day worth it did they teach you much?

Only just realised I can comment directly onto a post, to answer your question, yes, I think it was worth every penny. It was the first time I have ever had a chance to shoot at such long distances and the level of expertise and the confidence of the instructors just carry you along effortlessly and the progression from shooting .22 at 50metres to .308 at 820 is seamless, these guys are so good theymake it look easy
