Outlaw Pete 2,224
I've seen a corncrake in Dorset, behind my parents neighbours. You bast@rd!!! That's it. I now, officially, hate you for ever! I've actually walked up my own Quail, here. (Yes. I've found and seen a wild quail! I was on sedatives for a week!) But, Corncrake??? I don't honestly know which is More the Holy Grail? I heard, on a radio, some years ago, that the Crake's were coming back to my area? Friend confided, year or two ago, that he reckons he'd heard one. I ever see one, I'll probably mark the spot with a flag pole

NEWKID 27,048
Peregrines are one of my faves too, saw eagles in Crete, done a safari years ago spent as much time watching the birds as anything.... Secretary birds and a Marshall eagle being the stand outs for me.. Spent a lot of time twitching as a youngster, especially over the mud flats on the Exe... Avocet and short eared owls being a couple of favourites....
sussex 5,777
On a not quite so majestic note we now have the ravens back in my part of sussex , that is one big black bird.!!
forest of dean redneck 11,531
Peregrines nest not far fom here at symonds yat seen one fly over our estate, and we get a visiting Heron on our estate ,seen a few ravens in the countryside around Monmouth too, quite lucky really. Lol @ Pete it is a drab bird until it opens it's beak, when it was calling it was like going back in time, just needed a threshing machine.
Paid 935
Peregrines nest on a church in the centre of town here, often see them whacking pigeons over guildford. Great to watch. Buzzards are starting to be more frequent, and seen a pair of red kits twice in 5 years here.
Nik_B 3,790
It's not as exciting as some of the birds mentioned but I saw a Pied Wagtail when we were in Pwllheli which was nice to see, it was just wandering round in the road. Also when we went Kayaking there was a small flock (20 or so birds) flitting round over the sea, they were fairly small with light brown back and pale underside, we weren't close enough to see them properly so no idea what they were. Peregrines have made quite a comeback, apparently there are some in Manchester city centre.
Bootsha 1,306
red kites are an everyday occurrence where i live, soaring high or low over the fields, and when they start to cut the sileage...form an orderly queue !!. Isnt it strange how we take things for granted, had my relations here once and the one called the other out from the house, quick, quick.i thought there was something wrong..........whats up????, they were looking at the kite above, i was looking for something out of the ordinary lol. Outlaw Pete 2,224
Are marsh warblers rare then Pete? Rare enough, mate. Certainly a bird well worthy of note. I saw mine at Conwy. 2/7/

I could look out the window for a few minutes and almost guarantee seeing at least one shaking its tail about the place! Never seen a yellow wagtail though!

I've never seen a pied wagtail anywhere near my house although I think I saw a yellow wagtail at a local park and nearly fell over in shock
