redpat1 225
Hi Guys, my 14 month old patt bitch has a strange habit, definitely one that I have not seen before. Now I now dogs like to roll in shite, preferably foxes but my pup will roll on anything dead! My springer managed to pull down a blackbird that flew to close a while back, she mauled it and gave it a shake leaving it inside out and along comes Jane (the patt) and starts doing the roll thing on it. Today I am out giving them a walk and we find a shrew that has its guts out and the patt once again steps up and starts rolling in it getting the tiny entrails around the head and neck area. When I am gutting the bunnies she tries to roll in the throw away pieces as well as eat them. Any of your dogs doing or done anything similar? Anyone know why she does it? I am not worried about it really but it can be a pain to have to give her a hose down every other day.lol Cheers Pat Edited June 9, 2013 by redpat1 Quote Link to post

redpat1 225
Thanks chaps, glad I am not the only one. I would still like to know why the little F*&%£rs do it though. lol. like I said, I am not all that bothered apart from when I have to rinse mashed up intestines off of her coat. Perhaps its just purely that they like the scent? Quote Link to post

dogger 100
its a natural instinct to roll in dead animals as it hides there own scent when hunting, wolves roll in a deer carcass so they smell more like deer when there hunting the next one Quote Link to post

Also, when the Spaniel is taking a shite the terrier will eat it before it hits the deck, fresh from the sphincter. They eat barf mostly so they have nice solid turds which I can understand and handle, but when its wet and sloppy and she is going at it like its a Mister Whippy my stomach struggles to keep hold of my dinner. The worst thing is I forget 10 minutes later and the dirty fecker starts trying to lick me and the kids! 1 Quote Link to post
