Vanishing Swans

Recommended Posts

Yip sounds like 2 legged f***ing thief.....no predator could whip all that in the one night.

Theres a pair that come every year and have a nest in the pond just over the forestry track from me. Never have i seen them manage a young one yet???... :hmm: Not sure if the eggs get taken or the young birds... :censored:

Talking from experience here, I would say they're in a freezer now.

Polish!

Tie a dead swan round the neck of each one of them

I wonder if anyone on here could help with this mystery which happened last month. A pair of swans in the local park had seven cygnets which all seemed healthy but a few days later they had all vanished without trace and no one has a clue what happened to them. This pair have been having young for years with no problems and if the odd one had been taken by a predator it would make sense but not all seven and six ducklings also have gone missing.

buzzards,mink,cats.fox.badger take your pick

Poles, Liths, Latvians ect ect lol

we don't have any here in the villages :laugh:

Sometimes they go walkabouts with the little ones if something disturbs them on the pond, they try heading to other waters overland but they often go missing or get lost on the way. We had a family walking round the village here last year or the year before, they all got split up. There is a swan rescue centre/bird sanctuary about 20 miles away and they came and rounded them all up and took them back to their place. They missed one cygnet however and we only found out all the above when the kids came back from the park with this little chap:

I gave it a drink of water, phoned the centre and they came back to pick it up.

The woman who runs the place phoned me back later to thank my kids and said the whole lot were back together safely, both parents and all their cygnets.

Apparently they seemed to think thought these ones left the small, quiet pond they hatched the young by because otters had moved in and were trying to get to another pond on the other side of the village.

there certainly a majestic bird, but like i said wicked b*****ds lol

Its funny watching folk who don't know much about them feed them, they look a lot bigger when they get out the water and start coming towards you! I've seen people leg it away from them white faced in shock before now!
