B.P.R 2,798
had a few snares out....proved fruitiful but....3 times i have had exactly the same scenario... just thought id ask for opinions as its happened a few times...and if its human error...how can i improve... large area around the snare....flattened.... a few bits of rabbit fur around amongst the flattened grass... and snares gone. they are pegged in good so cant see a rabbit pulling them out.... and i know a fox uses this field to cross... other option could be some cnut pulling them out....but cant see it to be honest as the others are still there. Guest norseman
had the same problem with my new fenn 6s, im new to trapping but I am pretty sure a fox nicked the rabbs from my traps. same signs as yourself. clumps of hair laying around with the trap pulled right out into the field. id say your right Quote Link to post
dymented 2,220
if you have empty snares left id say it was a fox or pig taking them bud 1 Quote Link to post
heritage 202
A catch circle & flecks of fur are normal signs but to have several whole snares missing is odd.,had the rabbits / wires been taken by a fox or badger then they would have left a lot more signs & remnants of dead rabbit in my opinion ......I think they've either pulled or been deliberately removed by someone.., what size and shape of pegs are you using ? heritage 202
Just to add..., I'd suggest spraying your tealers, weathering your wires & possibly increasing the size of your pegs.... Quote Link to post
willum 89
Use metal rebar stakes hammered in a good couple of foot tealer about 18 " up from ground only if the ground is saturated do you get the odd stake pull up very rare though Quote Link to post

I wouldn't want to carry your snare bag too far! Make some decent ash snare pegs. Cheap, plentiful and secure enough to hold. Quote Link to post
jamie mc 168
I hope no one has pulled them or they will have your tag number as well. Quote Link to post
