to all you very good experienced shots i would just like to know your longest range kill ,im not looking for daft and silly comments and dont feel big headed i would like to know im very inexperienced and not a real long range confident shot ,so im just asking , any gun any calibre and any quarry (but has to be a kill not a injured animal )

With any shot there is a risk of wounding, with practice (on non live targets) long range shots are just as viable as any other shot

toby i never said it was clever i meant a honest report which circumstances come to those who need to take long shots ie lamp shy etc ,and duncan your comments are what i didnt want

i wanted people with experience to tell me how they shape up in the field out of interest and you sound like youve not got a cock to measure

I only really shoot at night as that's what suits my permissions. Nothing spectacular but 40-45 yards is probably about the longest shot i've taken and had a clean kill...and is as far as i would confidently shoot out to at night. That was kneeling and off sticks

andybhoy and ar177 thanks for your replies ,funnily enough i just paced out some cover crop to get it fenced off from the dog walkers and that was 330m approx so i can put the shot youve taken perspective thanks for your input
