Decent tool can be shown in the field to do his own talking preferably looking a 3/4 bitch hopefully an Irish terrier not looking any money just a pup he looks a bit like a wheaten cross in the photo

In my opinion that dog would bring nothing to the table mating him to Wheaton's or bulls,Irish terriers have nothing in them like either of the other two breeds mentioned.

i keep bull cross my self and rate them highly but i can tell you that 1 of the best lurchers i ever seen was a irish terrier cross and i mean he would put most bull cross to shame and could kill all

Everyone has an opinion Liam I take yours on board but they are a cross I like in theory I would like 5/8 but a 3/4 bitch is hard to come by

What ever way you go I wish you well in your quest. It will not be easy to get the bitch you are searching for.

would you not try a nice coursing greyhound? My father had a strain of Irish terrier but it died out when the last litter there was only 2 males they worked to a good age but we never had a bitch to breed back to, once seen a Wheaton x Irish terrier , was a great dog to work but his career ended short because he loved his job so much no reverse gear! Well I'd most certainly give that pup a good working home ;)

My friend bread a litter 2 or 3 seasons ago we kept them all but didn't have much success for the game I do I think 5/8 is the best way of going it seems to me the closer you get to the greyhound the less they like the teeth there are plenty of exceptions but I'm trying to work percentages to get a good rate of decent pups

For dogs that have nothing to offer there seems to be plenty of lads who are happy with what they got?

Did you not notice the first three words in the post?it said IN MY OPINION that is what it is my opinion it is worth no more or no less than anyone else,s.I two have seen plenty of Irish terriers and found them all gassy just like a lot of show Lakelands. But at least I gave my opinion and kept away from the snide comments that are all to common on here.
.

I didn't say you we're right or wrong,I was just making a observation,hence the ?

I think the problem is people just use any owl greyhound thats simply a "GREYHOUND" get a bitch and get her tested at fox for a year or so then breed from her. I think your percentages of getting a decent one would be much higher than breeding off any owl greyhound. jmo

You would go through a lot of greyhounds before you get one that could stick a season on the red fellas lol

Nice dog Aaron, we had one a few years back that was decent around holes and cover for foxes but can't mind were he ended up or what happened him. Good luck with finding a bitch.

It will take at least 3 yrs to find out if a pup is any good and another few to really test it by that time this dog will be 10 if he lives that long

just an idea if you cant find a bitch

it would be worth doing if the dogs good , and still keep looking for a bitch
