thursodog 353
Right folks. I bumped into this farmer the other night while i was out practicing with the new , he explained he was renting the ground i shoot and had 200 acres next door that wanted some vermin control. Am yer man i said. So the next evening i went round for a blether and met him and his HW35 which as he explained was nay use at killing pigeons. He also explained that he wasn't sure if it was a good make of gun. I understanably was quick to tell him its one of the best on the planet and takes a bit of work to shoot properly. Its probably fired less than 50 pellets and has sat for a few years unused. I cocked it and fired a pellet. A horrible slow over greased twang with some smoke. After telling me he needed the barns cleared of pigeons and a fine yap he agreed to let me service and lightly tune his 35. I took it home at 9pm and went inside to watch a bit of telly and have a cuppa with the missis. 10.30 pm we decide to go our separate ways and i head for the man cave to meet a well kept beauty while the wife heads for bed. To cut a long story short, i got rid of all the yellow jelly shi*e, polished the internals, polished the cocking slot, flattened the badly cut spring (Sad sight!) made a top hat and fitted a delrin piston sleeve. A light cover of bisley gun grease in the right places and put it back together. Firing the first pellet brought a big tired smile to my face, smooth as hell. I've put about 50 pellets through it and its a joy at 10.65 ft/lbs, more accurate than me and hopefully my farmer will have a pigeon or 2 with it. It was love at first sight. This was my first ever air rifle i bought myself in my teens and i'm away to buy one who needs a bit of tlc. Atb C 5 Quote Link to post

Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
a quick tip mate.. when I went shooting with a mate he was throwing the gun allover the place and shooting like a shotgun. a quick word about holding it the same everytime and not putting your eye against the scope, a quick word about eye relief and a quick youtube ratting nightvision vid to show him how steady the crosshairs need to be, and he was hitting a 2p sized target almost everytime! so a quick word with the farmer to make sure hes going for headshots and a bit of a lesson in technique to make sure he can shoot before he starts injuring the pigeons. don't make it sound too boring to him tho lol Quote Link to post
thursodog 353
Cheers guys. Thats exactly what i did with him Skot but to be honest i think he's happy that i'm there with the tools doing it for him, his day is an early start late finish so doesn't get much time to shoot. I'm just sorting out my night vision as the pigeons are very nervous and won't put up with daylight shooting or even a red lamp. The only problem is trying to find a good quality torch that i can stick my IR filter onto so the handycam can pick the pigeons out roosting to 30 or 40 yards max. I'm a typical grippy Scot who doesn't like spending too much money I can't afford a hundred quid laser designator so i'm going to try one of the cheaper torches with a good output and see how well i can see with my home made filter. I'll hopefully get some pics of deed pigeons soon. Atb C 2 Quote Link to post
